Mosconi Cup 2025, Dec. 3-6, Alexandra Palace, London

Yes.

I grant all day long that the Europeans are the superior team and inherent in that is the ability to adjust to different equipment. But the instances where our guys are failing to get out, to me, it’s more out of a lack of familiarity (and perhaps a bit of fear of those pockets) with the equipment than much else.

Fear is mental.

Fargo app on my phone has him 791, tied with Roberto Gomez
Settle down. Was just posting what the app showed.
He didn't ask for a cookie but I'll take one.
I am settled. I said he's not even in the top 100 in the world. But omg, he is tied for #100. Why would that get me riled up?

According to what i just read all players except the coach have to be WNT players. Three come from the rankings and one wild pick, that's how it reads to me. If that's the case it really whittles down the number of US players that qualify. Tyler has sucked this week but how many of these other names thrown about A.Qualify based on the rules and B.Could beat him in a race to ten? IMO Wolford and Lukas are the only two. Hey SA, Bergman and Dechaine don't qualify based on current regs so unwad your panties. ;)

Should we get him a cookie?
I've posted what I think of Tyler, but to be frank, I don't think Fargo does him justice.

Styler ranks 26th on the WNT tour. Looking at the top 50-60 players in the WNT rankings, and cross checking vs the Fargo top 100, I think Tyler is probably among the top 50 players in the world.

Once you get past the top 15-20 on both Fargo and WNT rankings, every player has flaws, Tyler among them.

Even though there's a lot of players with higher Fargos, not many from, say, 30 to 100 have played much better under the spotlight in WNT or Predator events.

If he could recreate his form against filler in uk open that would be great. He definitely has the skill set, it’s all a mind thing for him. I think he wants it too much- he needs a shot before he plays!

I can respect this opinion. Well said.

shane has a tight rasson at home and has been sponsored by rasson for 6-7 years.. if that was the thing they couldve went there and practiced. re-clothed it or put a heater under.

but i don't think it's familiarity. gorst has been in two consecutive world finals on that table brand. and sky is, in my (probably rare) personal opinion, talent-wise one of the best equipped in the world for these conditions.

but also, he should never had been the captain. he literally said he doesn't like practice. lol

Tyler also cost us a point on that missed nine ball in the team match. It was even easier than the missed shape on the two rail position. That's a four point swing on those two matches! Making just those two shots alone and the score would be Euro 4, USA 3 right now. Tyler's game looks like it regressed five years overnight. Or maybe it's just the MC jitters.

I remember when it happened to Dechaine in the MC about ten years ago. He started missing everything, literally couldn't make a ball unless it was hanging in the hole. He was a nervous wreck and it showed.
Pool played best is not conscious thought....freestroking is executing what you learned in practice and letting the subconscious drive. Which is why grinders love to play long hours , because playing that way is natural when you are tired.

Styer thinks himself into a coma.

Thorpe is not a world class player. Styer is borderline. Can he make another push? Or has he reached his ceiling?

I am not sure. He has great fundamentals and at times plays superb. He beat Filler and Oi to get to the 2025 UK Open SEMI-finals, and he really should have beaten the eventual champion Yapp. (CORRECTION).

Yet he often gets sent to the loser's side of the bracket in big tourneys and has to fight to get to the elimination stage. He also makes more questionable decisions of any top player I've seen the past few years.

Tbh, nothing I've seen makes me believe Tyler can rise about himself. He just gets inside his own head too much.
I’m guessing Oscar would likely match up against any player on our team other than Gorst or SVB in a challenge match for big $. Even though Oscar doesn’t even play full-time like the others, he would still be a clear upgrade over two of our current players, in regards to how he would handle Mosconi Cup pressure.
