Mosconi Cup and female pro players...

Didn't Viv win an open event recently?

I'm sure there were PLENTY of bent out of shape guys playing in that tournament.

Jeanette isn't a slouch either.

Given the format, sticking those two right back in there with the U.S. men wouldn't be so bad.

Sad that I keep forgetting VV is American, ain't it? That being said, the US still lacks that 5th strong female player to compete with the Euros. Although, if you made it North America vs. Europe, that would give us the 4 Americans + Brittany Bryant. Also, Europe vs. Asia would be an extremely competitive & entertaining affair, with both regions running 7-8 deep in star talent.

I like your idea about a coed team, say 6 men & 2-3 women. That would create a lot of fun possibilities in the doubles events (men's, women's, mixed).

The Mosconi Cup is designed to pit five of the best American players against five of the best European players, similar to the Ryder Cup in golf. I would be all in favor of a woman representing either side, IF she was qualified. Let's say for instance Jasmin plays the entire Eurotour and is ranked #1, then she should be on the team. Or if Allison or Karen won the U.S. Open, they would have to be seriously considered for the European squad.

Are any of the above likely to happen? No. Could they happen? Yes. I'm all for full equality in professional pool, and if a woman is deserving she should be invited to any and all "Invitational" type events, such as the Mosconi Cup. That said, I think the idea of a women's "Mosconi Cup" type event isn't a bad one. Perhaps Asia vs. The Rest Of The World makes more sense though.
