Mosconi Cup Coverage and Discussion Dec 10-13.

A fairly prominent person on AZ is one of the commentators. No not me! :)
The first clue is his name is Jerry. But if you must know, I'll be there chatting alongside him.

Jay, don't forget to say hello to the "Internet Pool Forums" out there. You won't be able to use AZB name I'm guessing but you might be able to get away with using IPF.

"I'm listening."

1. Follow this link: http://espn.go.com/watchespn/index/_/type/upcoming/startDate/20121210/#

2. Click Watch now button

3. Find your TV cable provider from the list ( some connect automatically **mine did not) Then I proceeded to step 4

4. Login to your TV Cable provider online acct to verify you are an ESPN affiliate customer. *** If you don't have an online account for your cable provider, go set one up. It's primarily used for account management but it's also used by ESPN to verify you are in fact an affiliate customer

5.Click the tab labeled "upcoming"

6. Click "Mon 10" tab

7. scroll down for "Billiards"

8. on Monday the 10th at 2pm est click Mosconi Cup

If anyone has any alternate methods to watch, please post them here.

listen to JoeyA and go get linked up to ESPN3 NOW!!! It's has a couple of unique features to get connected and it will help addressing them ahead of time.

This only works if you are using one of the ISPs they have a deal with.

Myself and others that use Charter cable need to find a Sky sports stream or use a secure internet proxy from outside the country to make is seem like your computer is not in the US. Seems that pool fans and criminals have to use the same tactics to hide their identity.

Does masking your IP work?

ESPN response

I just received this from ESPN:

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us.

At this time, the WatchESPN application will only work if you are an ESPN TV subscriber of Time Warner Cable, Bright House Networks, Comcast XFINITY, Verizon FIOS or Midcontinent Communications.

ESPN3 only content is also available to some internet subscribers of Verizon Broadband and Comcast.

Please contact your TV provider to let them know you'd like this service in the future. We're continuously working to add new providers so please come back soon to see if we've added yours.

For live assistance with this or any other issue, please call Customer Care at 1-888-549-3776 (ESPN) between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. EST.

Regards,

Heather

For those with the above and an iPad, the ESPN app works beautifully with 5 or 8 different ESPN channels (including three ESPN 3 channels, depending on the what is playing where).

Freddie <~~~ might have to take the day off tomorrow

Always something to deal with ...

Thank You

I am new to the site and was told to stop into this network of fellow pool players to find a link to the Cup broadcast and I wasn't disappointed. Thank you so much:)!

You're welcome and congratulations on your first post in the Main Forum.

ESPN 3 Providers

Who remembers when there was only one ESPN and your biggest problem used to be finding a VHS tape to record on?

ESPN3 was an internet channel - different than WatchESPN, but part of the WatchESPN "family".

As stated on ESPN's FAQ:
"What is WatchESPN?
WatchESPN is your single online and mobile destination for ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, ESPNU, Goal Line and Buzzer Beater."

The Moscini Cup will be broadcasted on ESPN3.

"...Subscribers of non-participating TV providers will have access solely online at WatchESPN.com or on WatchESPN on the XBox with a XBox LIVE Gold membership to ESPN3 programming as long as they subscribe to a participating high speed internet service provider."

In short, you'll need an affiliate television provider or internet provider to watch this on WatchESPN/ESPN3.

Here's the official links to the listings of affiliates:
Click here for a list of participating video providers.
Click here for a list of high speed internet providers.

ESPN3 should have the best stream since it's their broadcast, and also why you see the PPV stream as restricted here in the USA. (check out the links in earlier posts for alternatives if you don't have ESPN3/WatchESPN access)

Hope this helps.

Go Team USA!!!!!!!!!

I've been in London since Saturday. Nice weather so far but cold. The arena seating started going into York Hall on Saturday.

The two practice tables are set up in York Hall close to the playing arena. The Europeans were just finishing up their practice and headed off to lunch when I went by around noon (Monday). As I was leaving Brandon Shuff showed up, said hello and took off for the practice room.

I notice that York Hall has an arched ceiling which must crank up the sound level. When the home fans start their chants (borrowed from soccer/football) it's scary loud. I think they also have boxing matches there. The best seats are in the balcony which has several rows all around the arena.

The building is also a community rec center with big swimming pool, exercise machines and dance/yoga rooms.

Tickets are about $17/session, Mon-Thurs, 7PM. I think this is the first time the event has not landed on a weekend. Tickets are sold out and have been for a while.

Sunday the UK Snooker Championship finals were broadcast live on TV. I watched the start during lunch at a friend's place around 2PM and I later caught the finish at my hotel around 11PM. Mark Selby beat Shaun Murphy 10 frames to 6 to win the $200,000 first prize. Selby took over the #1 ranking based on his performance and the early exit of young Bristol star Judd Trump who had been at the top of the list.

5:15PM -- time to go find a seat.

Bob,
Please make sure to give us a behind the scenes report whenever you can post. We want to "hear" all of the scuttlebutt that's not on camera.
