Mosconi Cup - Last Day - Frame by Frame live

I just checked my email for the first time today and I have an email from a friend who is at the Mosconi Cup... I must say that I'm very disappointed in our team. I think people should clap & cheer when the player they're pulling for does well.... Here's an excerpt from the email...

"they also cheer and scream whenever Europe misses a ball or fouls. That, to me, is horrible behaviour. Finally the referee Micaela Tabb told them to knock it off, thankfully."

When people voice their opinion of Earl, they get burned at the stake... no matter what side of the fence they're on. I'll probably get burned at the stake for this but I don't care.... What the guys did was extremely unsportsmanlike and should not be tolerated in pool. I'm sure someone is going to come back with examples of baseball & football....different mindsets here... remember, pool is a gentleman's game and when you're playing in one of the most prestegious tournaments that's televised, you'd better damn well conduct yourself as a gentleman. JMHO

Seems Alex Lely's loss broke the spirit of the Euro Team:(

At 6 all with momentum, it may have turned out differently.

Great Thread Colin! Thanks! Sorry I can't click on your scales again to give you more Reputation! LOL

Oh COME ON!!!!!

Have you ever seen the world championships from Taipei. When a player like Fung Pai Choa <sp> is playing, and his oponent misses, the crowd goes NUTS. One player at the worlds, don't know his name, even yelled "SCRATCH!!" when the shooter come close to scratching on the break. At one US OPEN Earl was playing Feigen and came very close to missing a pot. He commented "Ya'll was just waiting to cheer had I missed it, weren't you". It is just part of the game. Do you know how boring watching pool would be if we all sat there stone faced snapping our fingers and tapping the butt of our cues on the ground.

Have you ever seen the world championships from Taipei. No, it's not televised here. When a player like Fung Pai Choa <sp> is playing, and his oponent misses, the crowd goes NUTS. It is just part of the game.IMO, it's NOT part of pool Do you know how boring watching pool would be if we all sat there stone faced snapping our fingers and tapping the butt of our cues on the ground.
We're going to have to agree to disagree. I find "your" pool boorish and you find "my" pool boring. So be it.

btw: The match is NOT OVER.

USA is on the hill. The event resumes tomorrow. Europe need to win all 6 matches. So it's about even money! Anyone want to back the US? :p

It's Chao Fong Pang.
English may list him as Fong Pang Chao as Chao is his family name, but no Chinese would address him that way.

The spelling in Chinese Pinyin is Zhao Feng Bang.

His nickname is 'The Ice Cold Killer' :(

Too much information never hurts right?:D

I thought it went through til tomorrow but then you titled this thread Mosconi Cup - last Day - and I went with it because I figured you should know better than I. Since they still have to play tomorrow, why did you title the thread, "last Day"?

AMEN timberly :) u are the third and last person to win a free beer from solly. :D

Its like i said in the first post. I hope europe would gain some respect for there players with the musconi, but if what u say is true, guess its just all going the opposite way. In most sports, even ball games like snooker, the crowd usually suports the underdog. Hoping to give them a mental boost, so the match would GREATH to watch, instead of a boring 0-7 win or something. Hill hill matches are way cooler to watch. But guess we wont ever see that in pool. Its all about winning and even better making the other look redicoulous. (cfr. later on the post about MAcho attitude) and pool is the only billiard game where u can play finals without having to wear a black suite and that thing around the neck (dont know the name, butterfly?).

In snooker, 3cussion etc all players have a very strict dresscode. Pool dont has this, and most supporters arent very sportive. So i agree with all u said, exept that pool is a gentleman's game. I think pool is the antichrist of gentleman's game. its a macho game. (why else would 9/10 players brake the rack at MAX speed, instead of just controling the break. They just want to show off there power.) Dresscode, table attitude, supporters, hustling, nothing gentleman in this ... I hope it will change soon.

just my 2c btw, and im far from being a anti american :) in fact i like earl, and i knew he would be the man giving US back the lead in the 3th day, and i hope one day ill have the $ to go to the USA, and meet alot of azb'ers and pro players.

LOL, I agree that pool is really FAR from beng a gentleman's game... there are very few pool players out there that are gentlemen. It's more of a figure of speech these days. "Back in the day" it probably was a gentleman's game... men wore suits, and people in the pool room were respectful of others playing and were quiet, etc.... don't see much of that anymore. At least the folks in the IPT have to wear suits... a little bit of old school pool and a nice change of pace from what has become the norm in the pool world. ;)

So that's in a little less than 2 hours for you right?

It's 11pm here in shanghai. I'll be up until late anyway as the UK Championships snooker final is starting about now between 18 year old Ding Jun Hui and Steve Davis. Ding is slight favorite.

Could be a classic match of the Old Champion vs the Young up and coming champion. This is Steve's 100th main tour final!
