Here are a couple shots from the Mosconi Cup...Heavily influenced by Photoshop.

If you'd like to see just the photos, they are located in the Photo Gallery.

Hey Rick, you mentioned "heavily influenced by photoshop" in your post and I noticed that these pics are in fact, different than your previous one's. More of sketch look than others before. They look great. Are you trying different looks as you go along or is this type going to be the only one available? Geez, none of this post sounds right. I don't even know wat the hell I'm asking, lol. Oh well, Rick, great job, keep 'em comin'. Peace, John.:D

Thanks!

John,

When I did them I thought I had them close to where I wanted them. In retrospect, I wish I would have taken them to more of a 'watercolor' effect. Giving them a softer feel. Especially the Niels version.

I can take them in any direction someone wants or likes.

I was in a hurry returning Sunday night, and leaving today for California. I think I was in too big a rush to complete them.

These things are funny, different people like different looks. What is pleasing to my eye, the wife hates. And vice-versa. Rarely do we agree upon one of them.

Any luck with the shirt?

That's what I noticed too, as far as the Niels pic.

I like all of the pics you do but with a little work on your part, you'll soon be doing pics almost as good as my stick man:D
Any luck with the shirt?
Still waiting for a call back from Rodney, damn guy is too busy these days, lol.

Rick, was this someting you did on your own or were you hired by the Mosconi Cup promoters to take pictures? Awesome pictures in the photo gallery, BTW. For those of you that haven't seen them, you're missing out. Peace, John.

Thanks again!

I covered the Mosconi Cup for Az Billiards this yr. I was going anyway, and Mike has been nice enough to let me post some photos on this site. And he has helped me with some contacts too. Works for both of us.

Rick,
I thought the Niels photo was the best. His own hard lines are magnified by the texture, giving and extremely fierce looking image. A killer pose! A phrase like 'No Mercy' would decribe the shot well. I think this would appeal to a lot of players.

Though, I thought the backgrounds are better when toned down, softened and darkened so that the player is the absolute center of focus.

Hey Mike I would be very curious to know what fiter you used to do this with. If you don't mind sharing? the pictures make very cool wallpaper for a computer!

Thanks Guys!

that is what I mean...everyone's eye is different.

Usually when time allows, I will get into backgrounds and such. It's really time consuming to change backgrounds.

I was only home 2 days! I'm now in Cali for the holidays. Probably will be here 2 weeks or so. Once I get back to Az. and have some time on my hands, I'll dig deeper in the original images, and see what I can come up with.

Thanks Colin!

And to answer the filter question....It's a 100+ steps to achieve this look, it can be hard for me to try an duplicate an earler sketch of mine. I do several different things, at several different times. Not one sketch I do follow the exact same path. They all require different steps, and different procesess. There is WAY more to it, than just using a filter.
