Mosconi Cup "Qualifing" ...Don't Like It

... i think this event would be better if it was played every two years. The RyderCup wouldn't have the same impact if played yearly. ...

But golf does have an event like this every year for the U.S. -- The Ryder Cup (US vs. Europe) alternates with the Presidents Cup (US vs. International Team).

Maybe pool needs a US vs. Asia event or an Asia vs. Europe event or a host of other possibilities. I imagine Matchroom has considered such things but has not done it yet.

I think our team deserves a lot of credit, it is easy to criticize someone, I for one can only imagine the amount of pressure put on these guys under that situation. My hat is off to them, as Americans do, we lick our wounds and get ready for the next battle, God Bless The USA.

I agree- the pressure must be enormous. However, I think the USA's chances would improve if we actually sent our best players

I think the Philippines top 5 would take down Europe:

Orcollo, Bustamante, Reyes, Corteza, and Pagulyan (if Alex is considered Canadian, then there are a bunch of other guys from the Philippines that could do damage such as Alcano, Lining, Kiamco, Parica, etc.)

I do agree 100%, how in the world did i forget about the philippines, i guess thats what happens when you post before you think!

pointless debate, you do know this is a privately owned event and it makes the owners a lot of money just the way it is, it's the old rivalry game and it aint gonna change so get over it.

Shuff is no weak player. Now that he has one year of experience in this, he will probably perform beautifully in future mosconi cups.

Pointless criticism

At the start of the last day CJW put out an awesome running order that I thought would take his team off the precipice of a 6-9 scoreline to a 10-9 advantage. Three out of four was only enough to leave the Europeans on the hill.
But Mike Dechaine could still take it to the wire. Looking nervous on the practice table this was probably his biggest 'bottle test' of his career.
But it took an incredible few millimetres between the slate and the pocket swallowing up his opponent's cue ball to beat him.
Had it gone 10-10 then the Captain's Pick from each team would have the opportunity to sweep his team home.
The two caged animals warming up on their respective practice tables were Shane and Darren. Who would your money been on for that climatical encounter.
So let's make it clear. There was nobody sitting at home back in the USA who had any prior claim to be on this 5+1 team. You put out your best and they played their hearts out.
Let us hope that they play well enough next year to keep the same players as this bunch.

No way will anybody ever beat Europe by a big margin, do you realize all the great players they have, i hate to say it but there best 5 players will always be favorite over our best five players or any other countries best five!

So you think in a 10 ahead singles format, this European team would be favored over the American team on U.S. soil? Do you really think the top five European players would be favored over the top 5 pinoys?
