Mosconi cup SOLUTION

That's the beauty of the sport a game like 14.1 is your grand piano, 9 ball is your Eddie Van Halen, an undeniable talent that even the most highly educated music professors marvel at, there is room for both......
I'll add, why can't different games have different pocket sizes like golf courses, there are no 2 golf courses alike, each course has it's own best way to be played, is it inconceivable that this could be added to the sport of Billiards? I believe there is room for both and every one can decide what is their favorite game, I would love to see a match between the "elite" pool players compete against the "easy table" players in a game of 9 ball, that would be fun to watch!

You keep bringing up the promised land but I'm just bitching about the lack of pinnacle performance here - Amurkya. Does say Mosconi Cup in the title.

I say both and, you say there is only one, pinnacle performance can be shown in many ways in my opinion, you say it can only be shown in the way you define it, we will have to agree to disagree, no hate, just different perspectives, by the way I hate the color of pool balls, all of them, that's why I make them disappear into the pockets......

Oh cool, last word salad...
:ROFLMAO:

Lemme ask how does your position solve the pool problem?

I like all the pool disciplines, 1 pocket is only truly appreciated by true fans who truly understand the sport, 9 ball is a great game for someone just being introduced to billards, there is a lot of cueball movement, crazy draw and follow shots, visually appealing, will all who start watching 9 ball evolve into billiards affencantios, no, but IMHO there will be more interest in the sport, a great game that can be played by friends for a lifetime, how many SVB's are out there who have never set foot in a pool hall....

I like cue - cussion in general but how does this motivate the potential masters? Wasn't there something about <excellence> in that Wide World Of Sports show?

You need a spark to start a fire, some will have the desire to be great but will not have the fortitude perseverance and talent to get there but for the few that do it will probably have started on some little Valley table playing with friends that caused that spark, the more sparks the more chances for fire......

Yeah but you see the American way is lit by quick return or nuthin. Pool going globe viral is not making a bit of difference to the "American way" and to a significantly lesser degree, the American edition of world pool.

Pool is in many ways more fine art than sport or game. If you need to, go check the fine arts catalogs of any American institution worth their preaching.
So maybe it's a skill. Do same for law schools and medical schools.
Maybe it's just technical stuff. You can find fix car institutions all over the country.
Throw in the DOD for competitive readiness.

I recall UCLA had a billiards team. Haven't come across word one on their activities. Maybe Bob Jewett would know.

I don't see the American way as a quick return or nothing, I see it as the land of opportunity, not the land of guarantees, you can work hard and fail but at least it's your call, many who had nothing became great, many who were given great wealth through family squandered it, this is where your pursuit of excellence comes in, you define your excellence, for some being the MVP of their APA league is enough, for some only world's greatest will do.....

Just listened to Dennis Hatch on the Doggin It podcast.

Really impressed with his thoughts, and I think he would be a very good captain for the Mosconi.

That's the dream. The reality besides all the hard work for startups is the shitty deals you need in place to prop the smile you want to have. And still hasn't a lot to do with the decline of American pool.
