Mosconi Cup week 2018

I like the loud atmosphere. The Mosconi Cup to me is the best and most fun pool match to watch.

Yes, that was my point...its by far the best event of the year.

However that doesn't excuse the people that only try to put off the US players by calling out when they're down on the shot.

Styer's demeanor and level play are extremely impressive.

Absolutely. He's playing well of course, but he's also very composed and aware of what's going on. Taking the initiative and calling the extension for Billy with ~10 seconds left to settle things down was a pretty good indication of how in tune he is.

I heard a yell when Shaw was in stroke on the 9 for the match win against SVB. I don't even think it was an American. It's a raucous environment, fun. Pool needs more matches like this.

I actually root U.S.A this year.
Two reasons. I don't have any respect on Shaw. Also European fans go too far. Unsportsmanlike Woo just to try get last shout for distraction.

Oh. Third one. Cup is getting more interesting if U. S. A wins! :)

Kaci appears to be back in stroke. Up 2-1 on Thorpe after Billy hooked himself on a probable runout

I think if it was announced up front that the crowd wasn't expected to be quiet at any point, then that's okay (not sure if you've ever seen the snooker shootout, but that has no noise restrictions and you still see an exceptional standard of play given the conditions).

My only gripe is that I don't like the crowd trying to put off opponents. If they just want to make constant noise that's different and I think in all honesty that's a better option!

Kaci had a wild runout with combinations, caroms and jumps to stay in the match 4-3 after dumping an easy runout in the previous rack.

I'm not on FB so I was watching on one of the youtube links.

Now that MR has killed those I have lost all interest.

For all the talk of Barry Hearn as a master of pool broadcast, he pretty much dropped the ball on this one. Last year, I had to work, so what I did was watch it on a delay via YouTube and the various people who would post.

This year, Facebook mobile stream was not working, so I went for plan B and find the YouTube link, then it was taken down like Matchroom is losing huge finances by a YouTube channel posting the replay.

So today I watched via some pirated stream but without sound.

If this is how Matchroom is going to run the U.S. Open, then please give it back to pat Fleming. His streams actually work in the USA.

I understand that they're trying to control things and manage who's watching.

But PR-wise it's pretty stupid. You want the biggest audience for something like this regardless of how they watch it to get the biggest buzz. Stupid.

did I mention
how stupid it is?

I think its a nitch and I believe that the reason he is bringing it to Vegas is because he thinks gambling on pool is in its future here , but its not going to be just old style gambling its going to be in the moment gambling loaded with prop bets ,,

Barry Hearn is putting up 300,000 , and hosting at Mandalay Bay. The greatest billiard promoter of all time is coming to help put american pool on the world scene and you want him to stay home because you couldnt figure out how to watch it . Whoooooooa !!:confused:

Never said I wanted him to stay home? Not sure where you are getting that?

Let's hope MR gets a US stream other than Facebook.
You have to admit, Facebook streaming is pretty lowbrow. This is Barry "putting 300K into US pool to save it" Hearn.
This is the Mosconi Cup.

But ESPN3 has water polo replays. That's cool too.
