Most Amazing Thing You've Seen in Pool

Not sure what the amazing part of this story is neil.......that many 9's on the break or that you were playing in a 100 a man ring game......lol just razzin ya...see ya sunday
Actually, I wasn't playing in it. I was on the road with a former pro, they saw me practicing and wouldn't let me play in it. But they said my buddy could play, so I backed him. LOL. He could spot me the 6 at the time! It was pretty sweet for a while. (till the 9 kept falling) So the real amazing part is that I got mistaken for a player!

two from me

1) Efren coming back from 17 racks down to beat Earl in the "Color of Money" race to 120.....(especially the way Earl had been shooting lights out to get to that point)

2) Those billiards shots by Semith Sagayner (sp?) shown on AZB some time ago....I still don't believe they were all real...maybe some kind of trick photography or (?)

oh yeah ...semi s is amazing. That one video he has is just jaw dropping. Eric Yow is also incredible. I forgot about those two...they definitely are on the short list of some of the most amazing pool shots Ive ever seen.

Steve Lipsky beating Nick Varner in the first World Summit of Pool. It was probably the greatest 'local guy beats touring pro' story I was ever witness to.

Lest we forget at that very tournament, Nicky beat Jimmy Wetch pretty good and if I remember correctly finished pretty well in the tournament. Definitely a few envious days for the dynamic duo. Though I think we both know that they've escalated to bigger and better things, I agree that beating Nick Varner in your home room, or any room for that matter is quite a feat within itself.

Efren Reyes 2 rail kick shot agains Earl Strikland

[Sam Diep Sara Rousey]

lol....the only reason i clicked on this thread was to post that. definitely has to go down in history as absolutely one of the greatest shots ever made, not only because of the shot, but because it was such a crucial time in the match. Not to mention that Earl genuinely applauded Efren for probably the first and last time ever.

As amazing as that shot was, according to Earl in the interview after the match, he said it happened to him one other time by none other than Keith McCready.

Ronnie Allen running 8 & out two racks in a row in the air playing open pocket giving the guy 8-5 for $800 a game in Johnston City, I walked away shaking my head at how he could and did take a rack apart with his cue never touching a rail, it was a joke, no one should be able to play that good.

I think that Earl's reaction to that shot was at least as amazing. I don't have it in front of me, but I remember that he was a perfect gentleman and said that he would rather see that shot than win the tournament. Fantastic!

Earl was super cool about it, hell I would be too, sometimes winning isnt the only thing.

most amazing thing was looking up from breaking, seeing the cueball bounce, touch the top of the head ball then fly onwards airwards into a guy standing in a bar with what became a smashed glass of beer in his hand shattered as the cueball smashed it and the expression on his face.

Then yeah, breaking and the cueball lands on another table.

Driving the cueball into a camera guys nuts off the break was amazing too.

At the state seedings, this player is snookered. Gets out of it by potting his ball. Just amazing at the time.

Amazing to see how locals cheat in their comps by changing rules midplay.
Like its a foul, because you touched this pocket when you nominated it with your hand?

Amazing to see a barmaid, who you played one handed playing years later for the national team.

1. 9' table, 5 man ring game 9-ball, 100 a man, opponent made the 9 on the break 13 times in a row. (ouch)

2. 9ball- 8 balls on the break with an easy shot on the only ball that wouldn't fall- the 9.

3. Shot described by someone else- ball frozen to middle of short rail, cueball frozen to middle of opposite short rail, guy bet 50 a shot in the 80's on cutting it in the corner.

4. Ball in the middle of the table, cueball a few inches from the corner pocket, masse up the rail, cueball suddenly takes a 90 degree turn at the side pocket, hits the object ball and pockets it in the far side pocket. (Was the 8 ball playing 8-ball )

5. One more- I didn't see this one, but was told I would get 20,000 if I could make it on the 1st try. Cueball in the kitchen one ball off the rail , Object ball frozen to opposite short rail on same long-side of table at 2 1/2 diamonds from corner. Back cut object ball into pocket. When I was on the road I was offered this shot. Seems he was willing to lose 40k, was 20k stuck, when his opponent made this shot. He quit him for showing off and offered the other 20k to anybody who could make it on the first attempt. I tried 5 yrs after he first started offering it. (I did mangage to hit the end rail, but that was all I hit)
Please diagram shot as described in paragraph 5.

The first match I ever played in my life was the most amazing...

I was brand new to pool. It was after the movie the Color of Money came out...(but I had not seen it)...I had only been in a pool room a few times in my life before, but only as a socail banger.

I was invited by a co-worker to go play some pool at a pool room he plays at...I had never been there.....(Kolbys)

He was not a tournament player himself, he was only there to see the girls...but as we were there I noticed that there was some kind of tournament going on...(I was instantly interested)...I inquired about the tournament and was told it was open to anyone...I practiced as much as I could for the next week to get ready for this Monday night tournament...

I paid my entry and waited..not really even knowing the rules or anything...I heard my name called to the very front table in the room...My opponent was some guy named Louie....He basically just plain ran me over...I think I kicked once and had a thin cut open shot 1 time after a dry break...Every other rack was him breaking and runnig out...

He was real nice about the whole thing...but just completly destryed me...

I was completly amazed at how someone could be that good at pool......The tournament director said to me...Don't sweat it, he does that to pretty much everybody...He asked if I knew who he was...I said I had no idea...

He then proeded to tell me about St Louis Louie (Roberts) and the movie the Color Of Money ...... (I rented it)

The most amazing thing I have seen in pool was two strippers with no clothes on an old gold crown. I was playing 300 a game one pocket on the table next to their table, needless to say, this was an after hours match with the doors to the room locked.

Man those were good old days in Oklahoma City back in the early 90's.

I went to a "closed course" Golf Tournament one time.......not to play...I was asked to help out with scoring the tournament...I "toured" the course with the one of the course marshalls during the event...and saw the most amazing ring toss game I have ever seen....and some incredible "twister" players....as well as many other games being played on every single tee box...

Never did figure out what the "Hide and Seek" game was all about....but there seemed to be a golf cart hiding in the bushes here and there throughout the course......;)

Interesting tournament to say the least...

I did not know they had these kinds of Pool tournaments also...;)
