Most Horrible Instructional or Pool DVDs

Haha, Tom, this is one of them we reviewed. Me and Scott sat together and we both could not believe it. For one it seemed like the first 30 minutes was showing racking and breaking the balls. It was like they got together for a day and just hit record and that was that. We are going to put more stuff on this one DVD that is more valuable then all 3 of those DVDs.

This DVD moves from shot to shot and keeps it moving, you will have to go back to this DVD a couple times to absorb all the info depending on your ability and level of play but regardless of your game you will learn something from this for sure. Some of the shots you might have seen and others you have not. I am making something that I would spend my money on, I am very serious as is Scott about putting out the best one pocket DVD ever.

I want people to get 2 hours or more on one DVD of solid instruction where it will be more then there brain can absorb in one sitting so they go back for 2nds and 3rds. Failure is not an option here for sure, if it is not excellent content wise it wont see the market. I will have a few one pocket players I know locally sit in for a private screening to review it and get opinions before it is released also.

Did you review Billy INcardona's one pocket video? It is one of the BEST NSTRUCTIONAL one pocket videos I have ever seen.

Jimmy Reids No time for negative is the best all around instructional videos I have seen. Grady has some great ones too..

I feel bad saying it, but Megan Minerich's was really weak.

I think she can actually play fine but the way she chooses to label and explain shots will leave people horribly confused. the talks about how you need three different strokes for a follow, draw, and stop shot. She goes on to mix and match these 3 strokes to get different english effects... for example to get force follow on the cue ball, you hit it with a "draw stroke" but high.

It just rubs directly against all the commonly accepted labels and conventions, leaving the newbie confused... esp. if they get instruction elsewhere.

I didn't like Danny basavich's instructional for 9 ball position. It was like the most basic basic things ever, real C-player stuff. You don't need a top level pro to explain hitting a rail cut with low outside.

Some of bert kinister's efforts are kinda... he-phoned-it-in. He takes one simple concept and then shows some other guy shooting it for 45 minutes straight until he runs out of tape. The production on the early ones was very ghetto. Like printing out title pages and holding them up unsteadily in front of the camera. Or having tape just run out and that's the end of the video, no final words.

I liked the perfect pool series.

Hi Joey, no we did not review that, we reviewed a couple others, I could not get my hand on Billy's DVD unfortunately but I am sure it is good.

I almost named that one to, it was royal suxer.

I tried to think it through, I think the worst Ive seen were the Feeney one i mentioned, & the basavich crap. Most of the others had some redeeming quality or tidbit of knowledge that saved them from being a complete waste of my life to watch.

A few more 1p dvds that havent been mentioned yet:

Adam Wheeler has a great 1p dvd that is part of the Pro Skills series. I rank it in the top 3 of all the 1p instructional tapes/dvds that I have seen because it contains so many useful moves.

Grady's The Finishing Touch video, which is all about the endgame strategy in 1p is very good. I really like all of Gradys 1p videos as well as his 14.1 instructional video that was produced with Accu-stats.

Dont forget to check out Willie Joplins tapes. Production values arent very high but Joplins tapes have a bunch of unusual moves you wont find anywhere else.

on the weaker side of things, I disliked:
~Kinister's 1p tape (not enough usefull info..too basic)
~Joyner/Crane (too much dead time on the tapes imo. I also didnt like Crane's teaching style..a bit too condescending for me)

Ok Lenny......I've never played 1 pocket......yup....never. I do not even recall ever having seen it played except on a few utube or streaming video clips I may have seen here. I have no doubt you will put out a first class product and certainly will have enough experienced 1 pocket players to give you input and critique your efforts. I offer my services in the form of a complete novice at 1 pocket. My ability level is in the 7-8 range for APA
or B- level. I play solely on Bboxes and 8 ball is my game of choice. I am willing to review and practice with your DVD.....after a short familiarization and some practice I will seek out a 1 pocket player and put my newfound knowledge to a practical test........If you think this will be of benefit to you, I'm willing to give it a try......and no....I aint lookin for a free dvd, I'll buy the thing after my 30 day trial......LOL
