"Mountain" the player from NC

I was wanting information on an old player from NC by the nickname of Mountain. He had very violent outburst and played Buddy Hall, Grady Mathews, and other well known players at the time. He is also mentioned in Buddy Hall's book, "Rags to Rifleman, then what". I wanted to know his real name? Does anyone have a picture of him to post? What city in NC did he have a poolroom in? Is he still alive?

Thanks,

Tim

If it is the Mountain Man I am thinking of he was a bit of a scoundrel to say the least. I had known him off and on from seeing around some prior tournaments. I knew he played well for the cash.

So, I bought him in a calcutta at the Bowery in Indy he buys his half, he winds up getting third and then convinces the guy running the calcutta to allow him to collect both sides somehow while I am out of the room. When I come back in to watch the finals and collect my winnings on Mountain Man he was gone with my end, 70 bucks.

Wherever you are Mountain Man you still owe me 70 bucks.

You'll need a shovel to try to collect on it.

Wrong. Mountain man was from Lincolnton NC. Noted for bouncing cueballs off his head.

Now i dont know if it is the same guy but i have heard of a fella named Mountain Man who played in the Moose lodge Tournaments. A good friend of mine named Bernie Kirby talked about him a great deal..he says that he was a jam up shooter and a funny guy. and if its the same guy he is no longer among the living.

wild ones in NC

Seems like NC has alot of wild or out there pool legends .I know
Earl is one to start with .I had heard of this Mtn guy when I was
about 20 ...17 years ago ,also heard he died .Did anyone out there
ever know of (hope I spell this right) Keesey ? he ran a small room
in asheboro under the auto parts store .Had 10ft tables and alot
of stories to tell .He tried to teach alot of us kids in that area how
to play pool right .Keesey was a character with huge eye brows
that emphasized his personality if you know what I mean .When
I talked to Earl he remembered him and said he was still around in his
late 80's now but not playing due to eye problems . Just curious if
anyone else remembered him or any other NC pool legend .I am
from NC btw but have been in GA for the last 13 yrs:D

So was there several guys that went by the name Mountain Man? I'd still like to find the real Mountain Man's name from NC. He is on a copy of an old Billiard News I heard.

Excerpt from The GosPool According to the Beard:
"Mountain" Mullenex, from Lincoln Town, NC. If he lost he would take a whole tray of pool balls, throw them up in the air and then stand under them.

Fellas, all this secret info is available for only $29.95 in my new book, The GosPool. Havent you read it yet?

A few sample shots from my upcoming bank pool DVD are available for viewing on my blog.

I played Mtn. Man in Myrtle beach probably 18 years ago. Unless you ARE a champion, you didn't want any of him on the bar table. One "off the wall" dude.
