Mr. CJ Wiley, questions and answers thread, ask what you want to know?

I may have missed the answer but someone had asked what brand of cue that you use. I had wondered myself, seeing you use it in some of the free vids and the TOI video.

Then, I will take it one step further. How many and name a few brands of cues that you have used in the past. Both gambling under the radar obviously in wanting to keep a lower profile and also bigger money matches where it didn't matter. Tourneys etc.

Have you ever owned a Balabushka? And of all the cues that you have probably owned, which one is, was your favorite?

And lastly, how many cues do you usually keep on hand.

The cue I used the majority of the time was a Bludworth Cue made by Leonard himself.

The cue I used the majority of the time was a Bludworth Cue made by Leonard himself. I also used a Buddy Hall Bludworth in the early 90s, like in the match with Steve Mizerak that many have seen.

I recently used a Jenson made by my friend from Baton Rouge, Mike Johnson which is a great cue, as well as a Kruger Cue made in Germany for Oliver Ortmann.....several McDermott cues from back when I had a signature line with them.

I'm also trying out a new 56" cue made with very old wood that hits REALLY WELL....I'm looking to start my own line of cues in the near future and this is the one that has my attention for the time being.

I've had as many as 20 cues on hand, but now it's down to less than 15.

Speaking of "getting down," I heard they were getting down for some serious cheeezze this weekend at the 'Worlds Pool Room' - in New Orleans.

I'll be able to get down there after I complete this Banking Video....getting close, and what a project it's going to be worth it though. :)

We have our "First Cut" of the TIP Banking Video.....it's got 37 right now, that's a LOT of bank shots. ;) 'The Bank is the Teacher'

Can't wait to get down to "Bourbon Street" to play pool and eat.

a guy named "Dexter" I played one time in Miami.

Thanks CJ. I don't mind an ice cold BludWeiser myself.

That reminds me of a guy named "Dexter" I played one time in Miami. I ask him if he wanted to gamble and he said it went against his "code".....I"m not sure what that meant.

Hello Captain CJ,
I am glad you are getting the bank DVD finished. And that you are or will be coming this way. I can't wait!!!
Richie Richeson beat Josh Roberts night before last out of a lot of Rabbits playing one pocket.
To more players were playing next to that table for a 1000, Rabbits a game one pocket. Road players all over the worlds pool hall. Justin Hall was there a couple of nights ago as well.
You'll hurry on down to the French Quarters and Buffalo Billiards.
Many Regards,

My Thoughts on an Extended Follow Through in Pool

There's two schools of thought here, however I know an extended follow through amplifies the effects of spin and deflection. A good rule of thumb is don't follow through any further than you take the cue back.

A person can play either way, however, I'd much rather play someone that has an extended follow through. Even the top players I've matched up with that had long bridges use a relatively short follow through. I used to follow through after my shot extra long to encourage my opponent to do the same if I was spotting them.

Players tend to watch closer when they're getting spotted, trying to "pick up on something to use against you". This is the perfect time to throw them off with some "miss leading" fundamentals. I see some of the best Filipino players do this consistently, probably from hustling a lot when they were developing as players.

Different stokes for different folks. There are more than one way to play this game and I respect that, I just don't want to see anyone amplify their mistakes without knowing it may be because of the misconception of follow through. 'The Game is the Teacher'
