Favorite song??? I can't even narrow it down to a favorite album, much less one song.

I'm kinda partial to the Rubber Soul stuff currently. It's all sooooo good.

BTW, if you haven't picked up LOVE, the cd of the music they used for the Cirque de Soleil Vegas show, you are missing out. My wife bought it for me for Christmas the year it came out, since it was new, and it was Beatles. She didn't know anything more about it, and admittedly, neither did I.

It's a mash-up of nothing but Beatles music, interwoven and back... they use this as the soundtrack for the show. It's tremendous, expecially for any Beatle nutz like me. Done with the full cooperation of Paul, Ringo, Yoko and Olivia Harrison.

It's done from the original masters by George Martin and his son, so it's no slap-together mess. If I remember correctly, it's the first time those masters had been used in a very long time. Everything on the CD came from a Beatles recording somewhere. Sometimes there are so many little things going on that you sit there and just smile, going "a-ha". I heard different things that I missed every time I listened to it for quite some time.

Listen using headphones (use you're spiffy new Monster headphones, JAM :p ) for the best experience. The stereo effects are amazing. Sometime I need to grab a 5.1 Surround sound version.

Is that the "new" one that was recently put out? One song kind of runs into the next one. I think I have that. I bought it at Starbucks. It is GREAT. I am going to go get it and listen to the Beatle's beats with my Beats. :grin-square:
 
Well, at least that Carl guy is gone now. It's been a hard day's night around here lately. :cool:

In the '60s, before the digital age, there were 45 records, small little black disks that played on record players. There were two sides to the black disk, with a song on each side. Teenagers would go out and buy 45 records because they were cheaper than buying a whole album. Plus, you could buy your favorite song and enjoy it, playing it over and over again.

Wow! I'm realizing that by me explaining this, I am convincingly now an antique, since youth of today don't know what 45s are. :embarrassed2:

The middle of the 45 records required a plastic thingie to hold them in the record player because for some reasons they had big holes in them, unlike the record albums which had a little hole in them about the diameter of a pencil.

I grew up in the Motown era, and I can dance because of it. We used to win dance contests, believe it or not. We would practice all week and then go to the church and school dances on the weekends and do our routines. People would actually circle us and watch us do our routines, i.e., the Tighten Up, the Jerk, the Monkey, the Alligator, the Four Corners, the Horse. :grin-square:

I am actually enjoying the autumn of my life. I only wish I had the wisdom I possess today when I was young and dumb, but then I wouldn't have all of those wonderful memories to cherish. :wink:

Which was written by Neil Diamond, interestingly enough.

(I'm a vast cesspool of useless information. Of course, it's far less impressive these days with the internet, but it is handy to win beers in trivia contests. American Pie, the song, kept my table in drinks many a night!)

The Smashmouth cover version from Shrek was actually pretty good, too.

The Monkees are under-rated, in my opinion. They had some of the best songwriters of the 60's writing their music, and they had a good chemistry together. "Last Train To Clarksville" is awesome.

More useless Monkees knowledge. Michael Nesmith created the company that became a little thing called MTV. His mother invented Liquid Paper.

can you draw the rock by striking it below axis with the tip that's on the end of your shaft which is screwed into your butt?

do you use a glove, kamui chalk, cte, backhand english, a longer bridge to facilitate your pivot point and do you properly align your dominant eye?
