Hello All
was wondering if you all new what a Muecci Jim rempe JR-3 Chain cue would be worth ? I have one from the early 80's I believe, Its in great shape, never broke with

The blue book should know. Like a blue book for cars, could Google where to get a copy.

Jr-3

Wish that was a JR-4 or 5!!!

There was one floating around here for sale last July. It can be found here:
http://forums2.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=281109

It ended up going on Ebay and not getting a single bid with a reserve of $350. It was relisted with a $250 reserve and sold with 4 bids for $277. That sale can be found here:

Hopefully this gives you some idea of what it may fetch in the open market.

I'm not an expert on actual market value, but this is my honest opinion.

If your cue is truly in that nice of shape, and really if it has 2 straight, playable shafts and the cue was mine,I wouldn't accept any less than 500 for it. In a trade, you should get something along the lines of a 4 point Schon value-wise,but that's just me.

I had one of those before my 21 yr old Schon was shipped. I always liked that cue, mine was in the classic color scheme like the Meucci catalog, but the wood was nicer than the catalog cue, solid white wrap.

I got a good deal on it with graduation money for 400 with 2 shafts and JP's. I had it signed by Rempe himself after an exhibition in Memphis where I ran out on him after being randomly chosen during the challenge phase.

It was eventually replaced by a white plastic jointed Oldie 5 with a white/black spot open wrap cue that was supposedly made for Rempe but he rejected for whatever reason.

It got to me via an old Bob tactic where he was short on payroll, and partially paid his people with product they could easily sell on the street to make their money. I got it for 300 with 4 of the nicest shafts I've ever run across for a Meucci. After I got the Oldie, the JR-3 was stolen out of my case in Jackson,Tn.

After running 45 balls in 14.1 with my Schon right out of the box,I sold that Oldie to a complete stranger for 20 bucks with all 4 of those shafts, which had the ferrules replaced with the original Aegis by Bill McDaniel. I haven't seen him OR the cue since,LOL. Tommy D.

Bluebook cue values are generally way off...mostly inflated actually.

It's a great source for information, but not prices.

.

Well I wish you were right cause I would buy all the Barry Szambotis at the inflated prices they list:grin:

200-500ish imo on the Rempe Meucci, all depending on condition, straightness, & shaft(s). With those condition is everything...and the older the better.

Yep...some BB values are off on the high side. Some are indeed low, though......lol. Gotta ask someone in the current market to know.

I had one with one shaft that I sold about four or five months ago. Around 85% condition, I got $225 for it. I think I could have held out for maybe $50 more if I pushed it.

Nice cues! Wish I still had it actually.

The cue is in great shape. I've seen many people say this about a cue...and it was their opinion it was in great shape, but the truth is----they were not in great shape.

Now if your cue has a straight butt with no dings or dents and the shaft is almost straight-----this is great shape.

If the ferrule was replaced and cut down, for me this is no biggy. I can replace easily with the longer original ferrule. It's magic.

This particular model hits the cue ball really solid. I've bought and sold a few like this. I still have one left.

If it is in excellent condition, you'd be a fool to let it go for less then $300. My guestamation for value is $300-$500.

Just look at the price for a brand new Meucci today and compare the quality with what you have. Your model Meucci is one of the good ones. One I had...it had the same colors as the Boston Celtics and that's what cue we used to call it. Wow...that cue had a real solid hit! If the shaft is the original 13mm, that's a plus. A straight butt...another biggy.

Just my opinions and I'm not responsible for reality in today's world because I've been lost for a long time.

Seems like a good guestimation, depending on the true condition of the cue. If you want accurate value opinions, post good, current pix of the cue, in detail, along with an accurate description (in detail) of the cue's condition...every scratch, nick and roll can have an impact on the value.

As for looking at the price of a brand new Meucci, that is not a fair valuation method. There are many models of Meucci cues at varying prices...I don't know what you would compare the JR-3 to. As to what Meucci cues bring, used, on the secondary market, well....

Reminds me of that guy's "$5000 Heubler" from a few days back on here. If you don't want to hear honest, fair opinions, take it to a local pool room and let one of their "experts" value it for you...then see if they will pony up the money.

Less than $500 in fantastic condition...probably $250-350ish...

I will try and make this easy. The cheapest new Meucci with no points is around $250. The cheapest one with four points is just over $400.

The point is...I'd rather have this cue (with four points , inlays, and is a collectable) than any cue I just mentioned.

Surely the Jimmy Rempe cue in excellent condition with four points and inlays and a collectable should be worth more than $250.

I love my Meucci cues and am a little prejudice:smile:.
