Love the look and am very interested in hearing about your experiences with the Murnak "Vintage" line.

I have owned Flowers and other tube insert cases as a frame of reference.

How long did they take?

Open to mild customization?

Overal construction in comparison to other high end / custom cases.

Thanks!!!

100% the best.

I've owned one and Jim is making me a new one right now.

Custom the entire way. You can ask for this or that and Jim only says one word, "yep".

Depending on what you get the case is usually 2 months. Well worth the wait.

you will not be sorry you went with Jim.

Murnak Cases

He is very open to customization.

I switched from a 3x6 to a 4x8 midstream and there was no penalty - just the normal extra cost.

I would really think about carving paterns. If you do not have the extra long pockets on the front, there is a lot of space for artisan work below the top. He has many examples of both carving, initials, name and paintings.

Check saddle carving and other leather carving if this is the route you want to go.

I picked one of his normal carving examples and his work is excellent.

I highly recommend.

I've got one due any time. Haven't seen it yet, so I'll wait on comment that way. But I will tell you he's getting really backed up. I ordered mine 5/28, was told 8 to 12 weeks, and I don't have it yet.
I expect it to be worth the wait. Jim has been very easy to work with.

He makes a great, sturdy case and his carving is the best out there. I would order my next one with shaft tubes a couple inches shorter. Standard is flush with the top of the case, that means you have to put shaft in with the tip up and the butt with the joint up, otherwise you can't get them out of the case without turning it upside-down etc.

Case

Jim does great work, he worked with me on mine, and I am 100% happy, took about 2 1/2 months longer that he told me, but with that good of quality it was werth the wait.

A Great Custom Case For A Non-Custom Price

takes longer to get than you're quoted, but I assure you it's worth the wait.... I've owned MANY cases, quite a few "high end" and can say that I still carry the Murnak daily.

only thing you really need to do is request to get the shaft tubes cut 1" shorter than normal.

Good advice about tube length, Jeff & Ross. Jim calls it an "inset". Ordered mine that way. I think it's really poor design to have to pour your cues out of a case.

I have one of Jim's first cases that he sold here at AZ. He did a promo and sold them at a very good price, mine is a 3x5 configuration. Since I got it at such a great price I decided to put it thru hell. It has been tossed, dropped, banged, dinged and recently even survived a minor flood in my family room! To date it has survived amazingly well the leather is a little torn near the bottom and other than that the only visible damage is the leather at the bottom swelled a little from the flood. It was standing in approx 2 inches of water for about 6 hours. I had at one time glued the bottom of the case together with gorilla glue around the base as the small brass escutheon nails were useless at holding the case together. This proved to be a lifesaver as NO water entered the interior of the case. I can say without any lie this case has been PUNISHED and like the timex commercial says it takes a lickin and keeps on tickin!!!

Hmmm. So we're talking 6 months... probably. Hmmm.

6 months was right for me, after being told 8 to 12 weeks. I can only hope he's changed his estimate for people ordering. My understanding is that you can expect excellent work from Jim. My own experience says you'll be dealing with a really nice guy - but don't plan on communication being a strong point.
