My son ran 60 balls this weekend. He started the first rack with a break shot, and ran the rack. His 15th ball wasn't a good break shot so I suggested he run it off and just throw 15 more balls out and see if he could run another rack. So he did, and he continued with two more racks.

So not really a true 60 ball run...............but pretty strong for a 10 year old kid!

I am working on his break shot and picking out his key ball. I think I am creating a monster.

Mike,
Very strong. There are several instructors that use this method to develop good ball pocketing skills. You can't expect to run a hundred in straight pool if you can't run a hundred with your method. You need the concentration and pocketing skills before adding the problem of developing a break ball each rack.

Keep up the good work, he will definitely be a monster.

That's fantastic. With proper training he's going to be a force to be reckoned with.

I'm sixty and ran 10 ball. Is that the same thing? Only kidding. I not really sixty and have never run 10.

Maybe you son could help me with game. Congratulations.

Idea

Next time your son is doing this it would be great for you to video and post here for all of us straight pool lovers.

I myself have been playing for 2-3 years and have a high run of 27. I'm sure I could learn something from watching your son.

Thanks

Kevin

Welp ... that settles it. I'm taking up duckpin bowling.

Could he be the Bobby Fischer of Billiards?

Dang...the true pro's are getting younger and younger. Looks like our store's going to have to start marketing to a whole new demographic. Spongebob Table Felt, anyone?

Long way to go to be a "Bobby Fischer" I am sure there are kids out there that are much more polished, for example Landon or the Behnke boys.

Kids today have changed a great deal. The majority of them have been competing in some type of organized athletics from 5 years old or so. Wrestling, football, baseball, soccer etc...... They are intense and have good work ethics. Also they are coachable, and understand the peaks and valleys of competition. For a kid to be selected for high school athletics he better be in some specialized program prior to high school or they are not even considered. Unless of course they are a Phenom.

My son competes in athletics so it is easy for me to coach him up on the pool table. He loves playing, and competing. He has a solid practice routine, and he will compete in the weekly handicapped tourneys with adults. I certainly am not claiming he is our next SVB, just a proud Dad that has played enough to see the potential.

Great! Quick now, get him on the golf course so he can actually have a future. If he's got a lot of talent he might excel in more than one sport.

Great advice

Thats what I was told about my Son and Baseball! It is truly wonderful to watch your child excell in anything. Great story. Hey Dan, can we get pics of the whole cue in your avatar? HEH

OK, here are a few pics. The cue is original, finish and all circa 1963. I also posted some Brunswick titlist cues. Notice the resemblance? :)
