As an aspiring cuemaker, I thought what better show to go to!! I also thought a good conversation starter would be that I am an aspiring cuemaker, working with a local cuemaker here in Dallas. NOPE!!! I may as well have walked up to Nolan Ryan, told him I just bought a glove & I'm ready to pitch in the Majors. :o

I did have a few great conversations with a few cuemakers & collectors. Ron Haley told me best..."keep your mouth shut & listen and know enough to know that the information, from whomever it may be from, is good information!" Great conversation with him and Chris Byrne. Thanks guys :thumbup:

The Ivory cues, the Titlist cues, the old Palmers & Szams, THE Black Boar, cues I've only seen in pictures or The Blue Book......WOW :bow-down:

I have never seen any of Ernie Gutierrez's work & seeing the many creations of his there made the trip completely worth it. I have heard of Pete Tonkin, but never have I seen any of his work either & was very impressed. All of the cues there were absolute works of stellar craftsmanship, but these 2 maker's works left the biggest mark on me.

Bruce w/ AE Cues spent some time talking with me, I got to meet Andy Gilbert, Pete Tonkin, Richard Chudy, Richard Black, Ron Haley, Chris Byrne, Mike Bender, Jerry McWorter, & even Buddy Hall was there. I know none of these guys will have a clue who I am the next time I see them, but they were all very nice, informative, & approachable & it is something I will never forget.

Thanks for all your hard work Will for putting this together. I cant wait for next years event. I will be armed with more knowledge & questions by then Mr. Byrne. :thumbup:

Also, having the collector gene, I picked up all the business cards from all the cuemakers I could so now I have that collection started. I would really like to add to this collection some of the older cuemakers, retired cuemakers, passed cuemakers, and of course all the new up & coming cuemakers, so if you have any extras laying around, or some you would like to sell, PM me & lets see what we can work out.

Thanks for the luck, I'm going to take that and put some skill with it and oneday will hold the title of cuemaker, even if it is just a plain 'o one :thumbup:

Thanks Larry, it was certainly an experience, especially for someone wanting to get into the addiction. There was sooooooo much eye candy up there it was unreal!!!

I am glad you enjoyed your first ICCS Show. Overall, the show was a lot of fun. Great cues, great people (very approachable), great new friendships with people who share the cue collecting and/or cue making curse.

Buddy Hall in attendance was a nice touch. Nick Varner has come for the past several years, but had an unavoidable commitment or he would have been there as well.

It was also my first year. The way the show was set up was very nice. The security was good in that no cues went in or out during the show. This is the best show I have been to and hopefully not my last.

I feel like I know you through the dozens of times I have watched your vidoes LOL, I hate that I didnt get the chance to meet you.
Hopefully I can catch you at the next event :thumbup:
