My aiming system is guessing....who use the Guessing System?

Follow through is important. If you lose the connection to the shot to soon by popping up, the theory is the OB can develop a mind of its own.

At a spooky distance can be shorter than you think.

You're clearly not understanding ghost ball aiming. Maybe this will help: https://billiards.colostate.edu/faq/aiming/ghost-ball/
I know what it is.

There use to be a guy that sat next to us at the pool hall and all he wanted to do was teach us various aiming systems. He didn't come up as a good player. No talent actually. He had an aiming system. His system actually made him a decent to good player. He was actually pretty good.

He was a system player.

I am a guesser or natural.

I've always practiced by throwing balls on the table and quickly run them out. Rinse and repeat. I've taught myself how to just guess in regards to aiming but I know exactly how to control the cue ball.

I know what it is.
Then why do you say stuff like "My mind just wouldn't let me look past the OB" and "Like aiming for the ghost ball thing. I've done it and it doesn't work because it will distort your perception of the object ball. You are basically looking into infinity, as I would describe it, and the OB is also in the way of your line of sight."??

If you knew what it was, you wouldn't say stuff like that.

You know a lot for someone who's played only 2 years.

I'm in my 40's.

Don't listen to this.

Practice not popping up.

Practice not popping up is much more beneficial than having to alter a shot, for something that doesn't happen often, last thing you need is to alter your shot. Players rarely pop up habitually and if they do than they need to re-work their fundamentals.

Just going by what you said in another thread:
New here and sort of new to the game. I have been playing for 2 years now at my local league while I'm not as good as most but I do enjoy the game.

But now you're quickly running out and know exactly how to control the cue ball. Great progress!

I was being humble.

It's the same when someone says "Nice shooting you're a good shot"......your answer "I haven't been playing for 6 months but I give you the 8 out."

You want me to introduce myself as "while I kick most the low lifes ass in league, I do enjoy 8 footers but I normally play on 9 foots".

Sometimes JJ could pass for SVBs dad.

Don't call me Dinja. ...
He won't call you that again, surely.

Google, google, google ... 3 useful hits

A guy named Dinja is a dressage champion. Now why exactly is dressage in the Summer Olympic Games but cue sports not?

"dinja" is Croatian for cantaloupe. Kinda sweet. ❤️

And finally, we have this which would make a neat avatar and not fishy at all. What's a Nexomon?

I think everyone guesses.

It feels to much work to apply these "aiming systems" when it is a lot of fun to play the method I play.
Too much overthinking and micromanaging haven't improved the very things they were intended for in the first place. Get out of your head and enjoy!! This game is a helluva lot of fun, imo, and I don't let mental gymnastics interfere w that, if I can help it. You can kill the enjoyment real quick trying to analyze everything.
Flow in the moment. Your strike loosens up, brow sweat gos away, digestion improves!!
Now I'm being silly, but you catch my drift.
Go hit some and have a blast!!!

If that’s a guess then shooting a basketball , throwing a football or baseball , hitting a golf ball is a guess. I mean it’s all a guess.. just an educated one that becomes more accurate overtime
For people that do aim.

I look, I bend down and shoot.

I look at object ball and I see its path to the pocket. So I shoot accordingly. Whether that is aiming or not but it is still a guess. I tell myself I need to hit it there and try and hit it there. LOL
