My avatar just died!

I just called the vet and found that my pet parakeet (Dudley) died last night. She had been our pet for about 7 years and my wife and I were really attached to her. I know this is not pool-related, but felt a need to say something to someone. I think I will keep my avatar the way it is as a memorial to her. BTW, the name "Dudley" was bestowed on her by my wife before we knew that she was a female. Thanks for listening!

Pets have a special place in our world of humans that only those who have owned pets can understand.
Sorry for your loss Bill.

Anyone who has lost their beloved pet understands the grief that you are going through. I lost two cats in the last couple years, Willie and 8-Ball, and though I still long to see their glances of unconditional love, time did seem to heal my wounded heart.

Today, I can think of happy thoughts remembering the time they shared with me in my life. I hope as time moves forward, you, too, will be comforted and remember the joy that Dudley brought to your life as well. So sorry for your loss.

Sorry

Sorry for your loss sir. The best way to help you get over it is to go out and buy another pet though!

Bill, I feel bad for you. Pets are wonderful non-complaining companions and a great loss when they're gone.
I walked out on my balcony one morning and found a cockatiel sitting on the railing. I leaned over and put my finger out for it to jump on and it flew up on my head. I turned and walked slowly inside with him hanging on to my hair (my ONE hair) for dear life.
We didn't know how old he was, but we named him Don King (because his hair sticks up). We've had him 17 years so far and my wife loves LOVES him.
Doug
( I feel your pain and loss and imagine that's how we will feel when Don King passes away )

Edited to add: IF I outlive the little feathered F***er.... imo :)

Bill, Sorry to hear about your loss. We will say a prayer for Dudley as she joins the beloved pets we have lost over the years in heaven.

Take Care and God Bless

It's tough we have to outlive those that love us most unconditionally.
I feel your pain.

Yes, our cat will be devestated if our bird dies before she can EAT IT...

( I think she's already planned the menu ) :)

3 Presidents

Sorry for you loss. :(

My wife bought a finch from WalMart for $9.99 it was gauranteed for 48 hours. It would not shut up but I figured 48 hours won't be too bad, I can live with that. That sucker lasted for 3 Presidents, Reagan, Bush and Clinton. But when I came home and didn't hear that sound it was missed.

I also really like your avatar. It is amazing how attached we get to our pets, they become family members and because they are so defenseless, a lot of emotion is created over them. One of my dachshund puppies Scooter, got run over because I wasn't paying attention, I had to pick him up, and a friend of mine took us to his property and we buried him. I have never really gotten over it. Sometimes getting another similar pet helps.

Thanks for sharing your loss, but it brought back some sad memories

It Also Boggles The Mind

I was just wondering.... if I'd brought a baby elephant into this condo 21 years ago and it passed away today, how in the hell would I get it OUT ?
Doug
( it bobbles the mind........ imo ) :)

Bill, sorry for your loss. We do get attached to the little buggers, don't we?

Growing up, My family had a parakeet named Jeepers. He was nuts. He had a cage but the door was never closed on it. He would fly into my room every morning, land on the bed and say "Time to get up!" He would play tag with me and my brother through the house. I cried like a baby when he passed away.

We, then, got Sparky. He had over a 200 word vocabulary. Cried with that one, too, when he left the planet.

Haven't had one since. But thanks for bringing back some good memories. Might get one now.

My avatar is a picture of my cocker, Duffy. He doesn't like having his picture taken. Other than that, he's the happiest and smartest dog I've ever owned.

I feel for you. Being an avid believer in the comfort of pets, I have lost a few in my lifetime and every one has been a bitter loss. They all give us such joy and comfort. As someone else said, they don't complain. They are just happy to have their needs met by us and they never take us for granted. We could learn a lot from our pets, if we'd just look at how they live.

Take a little time to mourn the loss of the one so dear, but don't be afraid to go find another one to love and care for. A new personality with a new "attitude" and a new sound will ultimately give you a new kind of joy.

Sorry on your loss

I doubt that getting it out would have been your first problem, but it does bobble the mind
