My cue collection has been stolen high reward

My God, Huckster. I am truly sorry for your loss, especially the personal items. Hopefully you have some insurance. If any of these show up locally I will keep my eyes open.
Warm Regards,

This is like an Amber Alert for cues.

That's a great idea, gforces1911. If all the pool boards could somehow cooperate and create a place for stolen stuff to be displayed, with info on when and where it was stolen, etc. then I'd think the odds of retrieving it would increase. And the humanoids that did it could be dealt with, too.

Good luck getting back this wonderful collection, huckster...

Yes, what Doug said.

I would pay one of the local, walk on the dark side teenagers in my neighborhood $200 to tell me who did it. That should be enough to rat someone out. This rat needs ratting out.

It is possible that you were picked at random to rob, but it is interesting that the thieves thought the cue sticks worthy of stealing. The guns, though, should capture the attention of law enforcement; a red alert, if you will, which is a good thing in your case.

I would be calling the police every single day, providing whatever help you can, letting them know you're not going away. The squeaky wheel will get greased. Don't let up. :p

I agree with Jennie. This sounds more like someone who knew about your collection. Most non-pool players have no idea what cues are worth and won't mess with bulky stuff unless they know for sure it's valauble. Cues aren't worth anything to a pawn shop or a fence.

I would not be surprised to see some of these ending up in Asian collections.

John

You've got to develop a friendly relationship with all of the pawn shops in the area. Certainly this was done by someone that has seen your collection... and knew when you would be gone.

I am sorry to hear about your loss. I tend to think you were either set up or robbed by someone you may even know. In reading over your past posts you have provided a ton of personal information just on this board that could make you a target to be robbed. I think your best bet is to let it be known you want your cues and stuff back no questions asked and see what happens. I am sure the thieves will hear about it but who knows what they will do. Since the thieves are probably from your area, if things get too hot they may dump the cues and not even try to sell them but I am almost certain you know who ever it was who robbed you, or at least someone involved in some way, this was not random.

Just a thought in passing, it is fun to collect cues, art, guns, what ever but you have to keep a low profile about it. Providing any personal information on Internet boards about yourself or your activities such as, who you are, where you live, what you own, when you are going out of town to a tournament or trade show on certain dates or gambling activities and so on as many on these boards do is not a good idea. Best to just have fun on these boards, talk pool but keep any personal info to yourself. Those who already know you, know you and the rest don't need to, personal stuff to people you know can also be PM'ed. This is a good rule in general but Lets be honest, the grape vine that exists within the pool world and the many low life people who are also exist in the pool world you have to be extra carefully.

I agree with Macguy 100% about guarding your info.

I also agree that you have to be careful or the stuff will get dumped. It is very difficult to sell expensive cues like that without drawing attention.

Not sure what the best course of action is, but I would take a long hard look at anyone that had ever been in your house to see your cues. I would also look hard at anyone that you know that is moving soon... They may think that they can relocate and sell the cues.

Post the photos, so we can be on the lookout.

Best of luck getting those back.
I think I would be curled up in the fetal position for days if that happened to me.

I think I would be the same way. Sorry to hear that man. I caught a 19 year old kid trying to steal my POS car last week and luckily restrained myself from roughing him up alot. If it was my cue collection like that you can believe that I would be pulling out his heart through his anus.

does anyone who post here know this person personaly. i wonder if he had insurance? you'ld think you would put a rider on your home owners insurance for things like this. if this happened to me i would post any pics i had, full detailed descriptions and be bumping this to the top every day as well as calling my insurance agent. that's a shame.

My thoughts too...

My gut reaction is that this is not an isolated incident like kids in the neighborhood. I believe that this is somebody who knows you...someone who knew you had the cues and that you were going to be out of town.

These are my thoughts too. I think that youngsters might be involved, but again for them to take the cues, they know something.

I just got mine insured. But not the sentimental value of yours.

For that, I am sorry.

I would also go to the local news. More contact with the general public the greater the probability of someone saying something that leads to an arrest or recovery of your cues.

Also, the angle of the guns on the street. People will be on the lookout/gunstores.

There was a thread.

I just got mine insured. I had all pics and worked with agent.

Frankly, it was a pain in the ass. But I sleep better.

So its worth it to me. The thing you can never get back, is being a grandson of legendary Don Willis and losing HIS cues.

Damn, Im sick for the guy.

Please let me know what part of Ohio you are from. I will send messages and call everyone I know. Also if you have any pictures they would be helpful. Hanging flyers in pool rooms is a good idea, alot of them are capable of recieving email(pawn shops too). What could it hurt? If you send me some pictures I'll make one up. I can't imagine the pain...

How exactly did the insuring work, what does it cost and what hoops did you have to jump through? I remember trying to get some jewelry insured once and they wanted it kept in a safety deposit box and they had to be notified if it was going to be removed and worn, it sounded ridiculous. I did have a Richard Black cue stolen from my car once and the insurance company didn't believe the value of the cue. I had to get Richard Black to send them a letter attesting to it's value.

I have had jewelry insured before (my wife's $12k wedding ring set) and it was only $7 or $8 per month, I think... It was quite easy since I had the receipts....

I would also suspect a pool player acquaintance first. Post pics at local pawnshops and pool halls. Home owners insurance probably won't help but a fraction? Have heard that a police report will avoid having to buy it/them back from a pawn shop.

Dragging the thief behind a pickup truck for 10 miles would be too good for'em. Best of luck buddy.

I have mine insured though this company, Collectible Insurance Agency.

Don't let the web site fool you. They are a professional group with policies underwritten by the Hartford group. Rates are reasonable, agents friendly and knowledgeable, and the policy is excellent, with many well thought forms of coverage. Since it's geared towards collectors they also cover travel, display, and shipping in many cases.

The insurance is very simple to obtain. I filled out a two page form, faxed it in, and it was covered and a policy mailed within one day. Typical coverage of $50,000 for example runs less than $200 annually. I increased coverage with one phone call.

I don't know how their claims process is. Hopefully, I won't find out. They based the value on "fair market value". Reading the claims process it seems to me that a claim will be processed fairly easily with standard documentation like photos, cost, and a fair value.

Huckster,

You are not alone.

If you e-mail me photos and descriptions at Palmercollector@aol.com - I will post the photos and e-mail my contacts, which incude collectors, cuemakers, and dealers throughout the country.

Also, any details you can give, city of break-in, date, etc. will be helpful.

All details to ID the cues will help. Does the Palmer have a name label?

Me and others here on AZ will help you get these guys. I am supremely confident that we can string a very large net so it will be nearly impossible for the cues to be advertised without getting spotted.
