My cue.....for now

Yes... flashes fade and distort the color. Your pool table with the light on will work great. You can angle any glare out and keep your true color. Love that BEM with 10,000 eyes.
 
One thing I forgot to mention: when you are not in Auto mode, say you're in S mode you should be able to control the "strength" of the flash. I have a little bit less expensive Fujifilm S100Fs and on that if you set it to the highest you can highlight a rather large house from 20 feet away - using that on cues would do no good for picture quality - hence, you may want to reduce the power of the flash in the menu by 2/3-3/3 to make it as weak as possible. That will very humbly highlight colors and grains when you also have natural lighting.
 
I can't help with better pictures. I just need to say that is one bad a$$ cue.
