Great meeting you Roy - I was a little embarrassed to ask you when we met but what does the life of a fish farmer entail? We will have to talk next time we meet. When do you plan on coming back to the US?

In your best guestimate - how much do you think Efren won from matches during his time at the DCC just from people willing to donate to him for a chance to play? I think you mentioned $900 total just in your thread here.

Have no idea when I will return to the States, but I most definitely will return sometime! I had lots of fun and really enjoyed my stay.

But it is an expensive trip and I know that for 1 week in the States I can get a longer and more luxury stay in Manila for the same amount of money, so I will have to figure out what to do and where to go next time I will go on a vacation...

I don't think Efren played that many people during the DCC, but if he had chosen to do so he could easily made thousands of $$. And everyone who lost would just be smiling, grateful for playing with the Magician.

...Some people I met deserve to be mentioned though, and I would start to thank SJM for his 14-1 lesson with me...

Thanks for listening, Roy. Meeting you was one of the highlights of my DCC experience. You are just as enthusiastic about pool in person as you are on the forum.

Hope you will let me know if you're able to apply any of the theory we discussed to your 14.1 game.

Another great thread Roy and it was a real pleasure hanging out, especially that last Friday. I'll never forget it.

I was basically tagging along behind in the wake of events leading up to the one pocket mini. Just after Efren agreed to take Joey's spot, Joey, Roy, pooladdict, and I had agreed to pool our meager resources together on something that looked promising with a person who's name starts with "L". Well after that completely disappointed everyone, who should appear in the headlights? KTown D. lol

Now Ktown D lead by saying "Anyone you have! Any amount!" After a little back and forth, he named his horse and I think when we just kept grinning and laughing away, he must have got a little concerned. The look on KTown D's face when Roy finally told him the horse he and Joey were talking about was Efren was absolutely priceless. Although I think we might have been able to be a little more clever about things, it was all in good fun and I think it was very honorable to not take unfair advantage of one of our fellow AZ brothers. :D

Roy, I know it's a huge trip for you, but I hope you, and also pooladdict, can make it back sometime again! It was a heck of a lot of fun!

Thanks!

Good story T. You got it right. But KTown D was good-natured about the ribbing he took after we announced our player. You gotta give him credit where credit is due. Wish we could have spent more time with him. He was funny. In fact, I think I would have enjoyed spending more time with practically everyone. Unlike Roy, I would have kept him on the string a little longer but Roy likes to provide the knife stabe faster than I do.

Roy: As to PoolAddict, pass on the message to him that I have a cure for him.

Hrmpf...

One week since DCC, and I miss it!!!!!!

Have been trying to play pool here at home, and it is so DEPRESSING! I want to play on Diamond tables, with lots of good players everywhere, mini-tournaments, action and I even miss the waiting for matches :o

It really is hard to be around pool 24/7 for 1 week, then try to get back into a normal schedule...

Being in Kentuckiana at the Derby during the worst ice storm in the states history is a very narrow slice of the American Scene. You could go to 30 more cities and each would have a totally different flavor. What Im trying to say is you will probably never have an accurate feel on what is America-nor will I.

I guess it is the Americans and pool I miss. I didn't see much of the country...

A "roadtrip" through many states and cities would be very cool. Not to make money on hustling pool, but to rent a car, decide a route, visit many cities and AZ'ers, play pool at nights, join tournaments, take some lessons, visit some tourist-attractions etc...

If I only manage to save some money every month...

.

Im talking people too. Just in NY alone-upstaters and downstaters are two different breeds.

Do you know how long that depression normally last?

Pretty much until you book your next flight back. lol

Lots of practice is the only treatment in the meantime! :D

That is about right:grin-square: Now, Roy, you understand why some of us AZers make such a fuss and start a thread after thread about Derby month or two prior!

Once, you experience it it becomes an obsession:wink:

Hmmm....

Is it too early to start a DCC 2010 thread? :D

I was hoping to attend the US Open in 2010, but now I can't decide what to do... Can't afford all those tournaments and trips... I want to go to some Eurotours, US Open, DCC, Philippines and the list goes on and on...

Anyone out there with a job available for me? I want high salary and lots of days off, but I promise to work hard the days I am actually at work :D

Great story Roy! It was nice seeing you again. I should have paid you $50 for bringing Efren upstairs to play the Challenge. Next time I see you, I promise to play you a $50 set of One Pocket. ;)

I lament the fact that we didn't video Efren's attempts in the AZ room. What a hit that would have been for people to see. He was MAGNIFICENT, and funny too, all at the same time. It was a little slice of "sweaters" heaven to be in that room right then. Thank you so much for making that happen. I officially owe you dinner.

I think there was a video uploaded in youtube...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfU_2AEtlgw&feature=related
although im not sure if this was what you were talking about...
