I have been running tournaments for a couple of years in the Waco area. I have had the chance to meet and have dealings with many great people! It is enjoyable to meet people like Kevin "Jaden" Brock.

Jaden made some verbal committments to people he just met ,while visiting Waco for the monthly 10 ball event at Fast Eddies ,and
kept his word to the letter. He is a great ambassador for pool who plays pretty sporty too.

Jaden, If your reading this, I hope you stop in if you get out this way. It was good to meet you.

Ray

If you're talking about Jaden from Southern Cal then I can say that I had the pleasure of meeting him a couple of months ago. He is definatly the type of person we need to represent our sport. A fine player and person. We should be so lucky to have more like him.

I appreciate the good words...

I appreciate the kind words from everyone. All I did was keep my word about splitting the calcutta with Robert Stewart. I probably should've done it before I left in the first place and would have had Robert stuck around after getting knocked out. I had gotten a little upset and probably a little out of hand when I got knocked out because of a sloppy ten ball at hill-hill to be in the money, so I publicly apologize for getting so upset. I would've like to have made both myself and robert some money from the calcutta, but I came up a little short that time. There's always next time.

I'm a little disgusted with my performance in the Swanee, but I shouldn't have tried to get used to playing with my glasses on that close to a big tourney, but excuses and pool players go hand in hand I guess. Oh well, there's always next year.

Ray, I'd love to participate in more events there if I ever come out that way again. I foresee that I will, so see you soon when I do. The only problem is the little tables, but I guess I can get used to that too. Thanx for the experience, I appreciate it and the kind words.

This stuff behind this thread is why I am soo livid over this other stuff.

I have gone out of my way in the past to keep my word, even to those that I just met as Ray has said. I may have the problem of sounding a little pompous at times, but it isn't completely without merit.

I have never lied on this forum. I try to avoid lieng entirely and sometimes I will manipulate words in ways that aren't lies but could be considered such. I am human. I have done and said things that I probably shouldn't have, but everything that I have posted about what I have done and said is true.

It makes me think that there must be soo many people in the world of pool that are deceitful lieing pigs that they automatically assume the same of anyone that may say things that don't jive with their own paradigms.

I have lived a varied and strange life, I have done many things. I have a big problem with people calling me a liar though becuase of some things in my past. I had an elephant live with me from the age of 8-10. That was normal for me. I lived on a 360 acre ranch in Southern California and that elephant happened to become a movie star (thai from operation Dumbo Drop and Larger than life) When I would tell people about having an elephant live with me, they would say "oh that is cool" to my face and then say what a liar I was behind my back. I didn't find these things out in some cases until many years later.

And for a looongg time, I looked at people as though they were talking about me behind my back all the time and it affected my relationships and my mental well being. I would start fights all the time over what might have been nothing.

I was able to get past that and change the way I looked at things. NOw here I am finding out that people have been lieing about me behind my back again and calling me a liar and a fool and it gets me to seeing red. I'm ready to almost walk into On Cue with a Mac 12 and shoot some people.  That is facitious BTW I am not planning on shooting anyone. It gets to where you can't joke about anything anymore. I don't think I will be going into Oncue again anytime soon anyways.
.

I have a problem. I am doing what I can to overcome it. I do have a thick skin to everything but being called a liar. My problem is that I talk a lot. I'm not meaning to come off as a pompous ass but I sometimes do.

My bro told me tonight that it doesn't matter how well you shoot if you talk about it all the time. It just sucks to shoot well but to not be able to when it matters the most. It's why I had given up the game for several years, but I just couldn't stay away from the game. I had to come back to it.

My talking about it is probably why those people that do know how well I shoot won't come on and say something. I think I have rubbed some people the wrong way with some of the things I've said and I can't blame them.

Dan W. I'm sorry for saying some of the things I've said. You were willing to play me with nothing on the line and I went and started talking about how I had the better of it. That was wrong of me and I'm sure that's why you haven't played with me since, when I've asked you to. I mean what would you be getting out of it? nothing but some loud mouthed punk running around telling everyone that he beat you if I managed to win and some good practice if you win or either way, but you can get that from Louis without the grief.

I always say I want to shut those loud mouthed punks up when I could easily have done so by keeping my own mouth closed.

I apologize to everyone I've offended. I'm trying to get better about that, but don't call me a liar, because I'm not.

There are some other underlyng issues that I have to deal with that have to do with that, but frankly, they're none of most of your business.

Again, I apologize to those I have offended and realize that I have a habit at running off at the mouth wrongly ,whether merited or not.

Jaden, I empathize with your stance.

I have met some of the nicest pool folk from this forum, but I have also experienced disgust created from some of the worst cases of human beings I have ever encountered on pool forums.

I frequent an industry forum for my work, and though they have the usual flame threads from time to time, they are miniscule compared to pool forums.

If you ever get the chance to meet some of the unidentified posters, trolls, and forum bullies who take pleasure in writing LIES, MEAN-SPIRITED, and even VULGAR posts, you will realize, sometimes just by their visual appearance, that these people have a lot of problems, some problems stemming back to their childhood even.

On pool forums, they feel mighty with the power of the keyboard. If you ever meet them, you'll realize that fretting over these trolls, unidentified posters, and forum bullies are a complete waste of your time. They are usually the ones in high school who had the cooties, if you know what I mean. :grin-square:

Don't sweat the small stuff, Jaden, and enjoy what you can from these pool forums. I have taken hiatuses from posting on occasion, and you might find that refreshing too.

Thanks JAM, but unfortunately, I'm not even referring to people on this forum, although some of them are on this forum too. I'm talking about people I know in person and are going to people who may not frequent the forum as often and telling people that I've stated stuff that I haven't or people that don't even go on this forum and have lied about how I play to other players to bolster their own egos more. This causes bad information to be spread around and makes my life not fun, in the pool world anyways, my life itself is just fine with my wife and daughter who's two and a half and cute as a button.

I work full time and go to school full time and still try to play pool enough to stay up there. It's hard to have time to spend with my family and that has put pressure on my home life. I do have my priorities in the right place which makes it even harder for me when people talk down my game, but my wife understands how much it means to me and is willing to give me some lee way.

She even agreed to go with me to the next tourney I play in after she saw how much this whole AZB thing has affected me. She wouldn't go to any of my tourneys after the 03 swannee because I only missed nineballs my first match and she thought she was jinxing me. My opponent only made 9 nineballs to win the match. I still only lost 9-6. It destroyed my confidence and has probably had an effect on what has happened since then. Oh well. I've told that story on here enough and I'm trying not to talk soo much so I'll just shut up here.

The thing about pool, Jaden, IMHO, is to have fun. Before the tournament stuff I go to now, mainly because of my boyfriend, I used to have a lot of fun with pool, MUCH MORE than I do today.

I was on a different level then. I did not take pool so personal at that time and didn't give a flying hoot about the pool politics.

I was on a pool league with friends, and I also shot every single night with a group of my pool buddies in a local tavern. We had a blast playing each other.

The pool league was the BEST. It was kind of cool having your buddies by your side, pulling for you to win, when you're competing against another team. I have some very HAPPY memories from those pool league days.

You said that you have have a wonderful family and are working and going to school. Those things should be the most important in your life. For some players, pool is their entire life because circumstances were such that they chose to make it their ilfe. You, on the other hand, have options -- GOOD OPTIONS. Have fun with pool. You are fortunate that it is not your end-all-and-be-all. When you get as old as me, you will be blessed to have loved ones surrounding you.

Mama, don't let you babies grow up to be pool players, unless they live in the Philippines! :grin-square:

I had done that for a little while when I lived down in Orange. It was the only time I was in league and I played in the local league at Danny K's.

I can't bring myself to not take the game seriously and IMO there is no better feeling than playing perfect pool. I've skydived before and I would have to say that playing perfect pool is more enjoyable to me than even skydiving, besides, my wife won't let me sky dive anymore and it's too expensive a hobby. (For all of those who are going to interpret this as posturing myself up, I am not cliaming that I play perfect pool all the time or even the majority of the time.)

I just think that it's not right for people to act the way they do without any regards to other people. I am guilty of this at times as has been evident by some of the things I've said and I hope to be able to avoid it more in teh future.
