My experience dealing with a well known cue maker

Dirty Hands, that's what created the fist bump.
With that, a good clean honest handshake, looking each other in the eye has become unwelcome.

Think back to COVID, the priority was gel hand cleaner, why??
Because people, for whatever reason, became worse than pigs.

The ole fashion handshake be came unstylish.
Moises Alou peeing on his hands is what created the fist bump. Look it up. Now the elbow bump.....thats another story.

I think the reluctance to out the name is due to some implied personal bond with the cue maker. It's like you are ratting out your friend and most people are squeamish about such things. Would you feel bad about giving a negative review of your local Starbucks on yelp? yelp and google reviews are raking in millions in a business that relies on customers telling the truth.

In short, maybe more cue makers should have yelp listings..
You’re reading into it. This is the only time I’ve dealt with him. Post has been updated.

You asked a question about acceptability of leaving a bad review. So like Socrates, allow me to reply with a question.
I think your post along with a couple others made the most sense. Thank you for taking the time to lay that out. As mentioned in my updated post, I have no interest in making anyone look bad, but at the same time, it’s not fair to others who might have avoided the same issues had something been said.

To those who think outing the cue builder in a thread here matters. There's already stuff long before the op sent his cue in.

best reason to pay with a credit card. and not do business with someone who wont take one that spells a fly by night.

you got a month usually to dispute the charge. if a person wants his money before he ships which is normal. then you have your month to make it right. or negotiate partial refund after you get your cue back.

and all cuemakers that complain they may get stuck with your cue if you dont accept it because its late. any decent maker can resell your cue in a minute as all the good ones are in high demand.

if they cant sell your custom made cue for the same or more then you were quoted then it means you are being overcharged.

I see the name has been added. Due to being taken into the confidence of a close friend.

I can add this,
Not surprised one bit…

The evil that men do lives after them, the good is oft interred with their bones.

well it does look like he doesnt finish stuff but hasnt ever cheated anyone in his mind. many cuemakers dont ever get anything finished and only fools give them money up front.
some have taken the money and wont return it or do the work. that's stealing and fraud.

if you want one of those guy's cues just buy one on the open market.

there are many top cues on the sellers forum that you can buy and some even return if you dont like them or the hit. how can you beat that.
and deal with guys that have impeccable reputations. and not others.

here is one you can buy right now for less than 3000 bucks and not have to wait 5 years and get something you dont want maybe.

I don't own or ever hit with one, but have seen what his cues sell for, so my guess is he was too busy making cues to sell to care about the small jobs.

Unfortunately I read that post about half was into dealing with Mike. Had I seen that before hand, there’s not a chance I would have sent him anything.
