It looks like rosewood to me. Whatever the wood is....the cue is awesome! Well done on a fine purchase.

I can't wait to get mine. His work is classic and super clean.

wow, he is amazing, granted he had a great teacher but barry has taken it to another level, i passed on one a few months ago, and now that I have one I wish I woud have bought it. I like his work as much as his dads if not more because its a legacy of gus and barry together. Gus was a genious, barry is as well, put that together and you have something VERY special. The heratage to me is very special, did I mention I love how your cue looks? and congratlations? keep it for ever and use the hell out of it,

best fatboy

Balance, if that's the cue Erik had I think it's koa. We had it about 5 years ago. If so they cue is about 10 years old and a real looker. Butt rings aren't billet...they are inlays. Congrats on your acquisition !! When (and if) you get tired of it, please contact me. :) Sean

What a beautiful Szamboti. I have been looking for one of Barrys cues myself. Oh well, keep dreaming, right?

fat boy and i were talking about how much more refined barry has taken his family buisness. but i think he is one of the nicest guys on the planet ,he is the type of guy you would love to sit beside him and listen to how proud he is of his family!and he never says a bad word about any one!I believe that personality has helped his buis more than any thing! and they do play great also:cool: .. his cues are like a drug after having one you keep jonesing for more! Iam looking for a fancy one to put away for my boy ethan! so if you see one you cant get let me know

I have seen a few, Bill;) I totally agree with you on how nice Barry is. Its always a pleasure talking to him. Also, his cues are functional works of art.

I sold that cue to Balance. BTW, the points and buttsleeve is Hawaiian Koa. Enjoy the cue!!

It's definitely a great cue I'd ever had. I didn't like the pilot joint style cue cause no one(except Gina cue) could give me solid hitting feedback like Southwest cue. I'm so lucky that I had a chance to test hit one brand new Barry Szamboti from my best R.Paul. It's give me a shock and still remember the feeling.

I'm appreciate Erik to let me have this wonderful cue.

The first time I saw this cue at Poolchady' home in 4 years ago. I had never buy any custom cue before and let it go.

Sean, I still need your help !!;)

I still adapt the ivory ferrule when I had been get use to the Micarta ferrule in Southwest. It's just need to take some time. All I want to say is Barry Szamboti have great solid hitting feedback and great performance that I have never used before.:) You know man to have one of Barry Szamobti is a wonderful things when you stand in the custome cue area.

I am so glad that you were able to work out something with Erik and get this cue. It is a real beauty and will be worth keeping in your collection for a long time.

As you have said, now that you have a taste it is like a drug where you need more. I too will be looking for another Szam so keep all the guys wheeling and dealing and make sure you touch base with each of them. All of them help one another in this industry that we both are passionate about - CUES and the game of BILLIARDS - Believe It or Not!

talking about feel & hit

I play with Szams and SW cues 90% of the time, I perfer the Szam feel but in Vegas where I live some of the time and where my table is I play with my SW, in LA and sometimes in Vegas I've been playing with a Gus, they are different but I cant say which is better , i like the feel of the Gus better but its also new to me, the SW i have played with forever.

I just got a Barry and its my all time favorite cue and I like the feel it alot, i've only played twice with it, but I know at the end of the day that will be my favorite. I'm going to keep it in LA the dry air here is hell on cues. Thats why since they are made here a SW is my Vegas cue, one thing I noticed it isnt hard to adjust between them. Ant the Barry and Gus cues will live in LA. I have a sugartree for a travelling cue.
