My first "nice" cue!

Felt like posting up my first nice cue, everything before it has always been a lower end cue. I'm pretty happy with it this far, though it does need an LD shaft. Well... Maybe need is a bad word lol

Congrats on your new cue!! This is how it starts, for some reason after the first one it becomes a addiction.

Congratulations on your 1st nice cue..
Enjoy it!

Thanks guys! Everyone knows you can't have a nice cue in a cheap case.... ;-) unless you talk to my wife haha

That looks like the Jacoby Hybrid Edge shaft which is Low Deflection! Great shaft, I used to play one and it has a great feel for an LD shaft.

Congrats on your first nice cue! I've been shooting some with a Jacoby too, they make a nice hitting cue!

I actually didn't get that shaft, I got a standard shaft with it. Kind of regret not getting the Hybrid.

What's everyone's thoughts on Instroke cases? I've heard more bad than good but they look great.

I think they're great. I have two Instrokes I bought recently as well as a JB Ultimate Rugged. I think both are tops when it comes to cue protection. The Instoke is heavier but the leather is a little nicer looking than the nylon. It's more expensive but I really like it especially in larger 3x5 or 3x7 sizes because the configuration is better if you ever use your case to hold assembled cues (rugged groups all the butts in the middle on the larger cases which I don't like). For a 2x4, the Rugged (called a 2x5/3x4....works best as 2x4 in my experience) is great though and holds its own against the Instroke having a similar configuration, lighter weight, and an extra pocket (on the Ultimates) that I find useful for holding joint protectors and a tip tool. Also he rubber bottom is nicer....the Instroke feet can slip on hard surfaces.

JB cases are the way to go for sure. I have 3 of them with a 4th on the way. The 2x5/3x4 are really nice and light. Protection is top notch.

Nice cue btw.

there is something about getting that firsy really nice one

I remember how proud I was of my first one

best wishes

It is a pretty good feeling! I would love to get a custom case next but I just can't justify the price tag on them!

Instroke's and JB Ruggeds are fairly reasonably priced, even more so if you buy used. They are excellent protection and quality as well. You can also find an older Dennis Swift case or a George 2x4 for cheap as well if you really want the leather look and feel.

If you want, I have a 4x8 Predator case. It's a butterfly style case, and may be more than what you need, but it's made very well. PM me if you're interested.

As far as cue buying goes. I always say that I've stopped buying, but it's not really true. I have paired everything down to two specific players that I really like and won't sell. The truth about cue hunting is that it doesn't matter as much about the name or prestige of the cuemaker, as long as you like the cue. Enjoy playing with you're new cue!

Well after playing with the cue a few days I really don't like the hit on it. I don't know if a hybrid shaft will fix it or not.

Thinking about possibly trading it off instead of dropping another ~200 on a new shaft.
