Hey guys, kind of just getting into pool again since I was in high school. I used to have a table in my garage back then and my family and I played a lot, but nothing more than just family fun. I finally jumped and bought myself a somewhat nice cue, though its nothing special compared to others I've seen here. I'm still excited about it though. Here she is, new Mcdermott Super Genesis dark English. The black is overlays rather than inlaid, but for $160 on a 2009 limited cue I'm happy with it.

i like it

Jerry Franklin of southwest cues ,one of, if not the greatest cuemaker in
the world once asked me what i thought of mc dermott cues

I told him that i liked them, he said they make a very good cue, they
play good and are built good too

i like the basic design of yours and doubt if it is possible to get a better cue for the price you paid

many of the best players i ever saw played with mc d cues

thanks for sharing your cue with us

she is a nice looking mc'd.
I have yet seen this model before. Certainly look well made. I always have a soft spot for mcdermott.
Big pin and wood to wood joint. What not to like?
Congratulations! Happy shooting!

Thanks for the nice replies. That makes me feel better about my purchase. I looked for a couple months for the right cue in my price range, and finally decided on Mcdermott. Then I looked at least 20 times at each McD in my range, lol. I liked the ring work on this one, plus I like the darker stain with the black points. I was expecting a little better, but I'm not upset about it. It's got an ever so tiny chip in the joint that's barely noticeable, there's a tiny spot in the ring work at the top of the handle that you can feel a bit if you're looking for it, and the butt where the bumper pushes in is a little rough. But, I got a good price on a USA made McD with a lifetime warranty and maintenance. Now I just gotta find time this weekend to go shoot a few games with it.

My collection now includes a cheap Eliminator SP, cheap Halex Ti, cheap "no name" 4 peice cue, and a nice "to me" McDermott genesis... I'm on a roll, lol.

McD

My first 'real' cue was also a McDermott. Great cues.. solid and have a great hit. Although, yours is way nicer than mine. Very unique look. I like it! Thanks for sharing pics.

I don't know what the deal is with billiards.com, but they were the ONLY site that still had these in stock. I was kinda expecting an email saying that they were out, so I was excited when it shipped. I looked up the Mcdermott discontinued list and these were only made in '09. I think its kinda cool that I was able to get a limited model.

I still remember the McDermott D-9 I bought in 1987...my first "real cue". I'll never forget how excited and proud I was when I bought it; although I've bought a lot nicer cues since then, that level of pride and excitement was never quite the same as that first purchase. You've got a really nice cue there, will last a lot longer than you will! Congrats and welcome to the obsession!

My first nice cue was a mcdermott. that may be one of the classiest looking mcdermots i've ever seen!

Congrats on your new cue!! You are now going to be addicted like the rest of us..lol.

Thanks guys. I was in Georgia for the last three weeks, and the hotel I was at had a couple of nice 9' pool tables in their bar. I tell ya, it sucks using house cues for 3 weeks when your brand new cue is waiting at home. I'm glad to be home and glad my cue is far from disappointing.

One of the nicest looking McD's I have ever seen.
BTW, how do you just kind of get back in to pool.
It's a sickness. Your doomed! :(

Ahhh, finally got to go shoot a few racks with the new cue. Definitely gonna take some getting used to, but it plays excellent. Good solid hit and I love the taper. The tip is different than what I've used before, but its nice. Doesn't take as much power to get it to do what I want.

Of all the cues I have, one of them I don't ever see myself getting rid of is a McDermott! If you see the cue, it might explain the reason ;):

So now that I've got my nice cue, what are some "MUST HAVE" accessories that I should have to go along with it. I've got a cheap tip shaper, a hard tube case, and a cube of masters lol. Gonna get joint protectors soon. What else do I need?!? Thanks...
