My First Package

This is small potatoes for some of you guys, but Friday, I had my first 2-pack ever!

As well as you shoot, you should already have a 3 or 4. It has to be your break or focus. You play a lot better than a few people I know with 3+. Just stay sharp and control the cue ball on the break.

If you're interested, I'd get together and really put some effort in to getting better.

Nice job! For some reason when I play the ghost I seem to get a fair amount of bad luck. For instance, I may get a few break and runs and it looks like I am going to with the match and up jumps the Devil and I get a real crappy table spread after the break and just can't get out.
The ghost typically kicks my butt. But, I'm getting better at it and still manage to beat him now and then. But it matches where I play 10 games the score is typically 4-6 in favor of the ghost.

This happens to me a lot, but if I use the magic rack it really helps. A lot of depends on just how the table is racking/breaking that day and trying to adjust the speed to ensure a good spread and make a ball.

I have never beaten the ghost; not even if the ghost gives me the 7 (or last 3). But, I think my game is on the edge of picking up (at least it feels like it), so I'll be playing him a lot more often. :)

A lot of natural shape choices. Did like the 5 to 6? in one rack where rolling cb probably hits 6 or may roll past the shape...nice draw back to rail and spin out for correct side shape.

I was really concerned I'd end up on top of the 6 if I went naturally forward on that shot; hence all my hesitation. There's a few shots where I end up sorta-kinda about where I wanted, but I was playing to error on the side of "in-line, but longer shot" instead of trying to get real perfect and risk over-shooting shape. I've gotten myself into a lot of trouble trying get too fancy with position. I think (hope) I've worked most of that out of my system by now.

You nailed it on the head... I make a lot mental errors, taking a shot for granted/losing focus, letting up at the end of the rack, etc.

I'm ecstatic that I finally this milestone - but after a quick sigh of accomplishment, it really only drives me to do better! :)

Thanks for sharing the video. I liked how to explained "playing the ghost". I am going to give it a try. I think I will get the ghost to "give me 2 innings"!

I've never thought about asking for an "inning" spot, but I do get a safety spot. If I play a strong enough safe that the ghost can't see the object ball without jumping or kicking then I get the ball back (in hand).

Lots of help that gives me... i play bad. :sorry:

Granted, it was playing the (9b) ghost (and he still destroyed me 4-9), but I managed to break'n'run two consecutive racks, without taking ball in hand after the break. :D:D:D

Of course (just like a pool player), I'm more annoyed that I jarred a fairly standard 3-ball in the next rack, which opened the rest of the table nicely, but... one step at a time I guess.

The video of my 4 runouts from my set with the ghost can be found here, if you're looking to kill 9 minutes.

This is why I love going to big tournaments. Even though I didn't play non-stop, just being around and witnessing so much great pool rubbed off on me! haha Thank you DCC! ;)

Congratulations on your 4 runouts and your perspective about big tournaments.

nice shooting man,you look like you could put more then 2 together, its probably all in your head...i think you will get more then 2 pretty soon,i beat the 9ball ghost to 9 on a 9ft diamond here about a month ago and it was a good feeling,i had done it on an easy GC about 6 months ago and kept struggling on the 4.5 inch pockets on the diamond, but i finally did it,i would have liked to have had it on tape myself,i am sure i had a couple 3 packs. Its all about the break i think,if they are broke up well it sure helps, thats probably why SVB practices the break so much...What is the software you used to display your runs, its awesome.

Wow

Nice to see a thread that is really positive and encouraging to the OP! I bet you will hit a 3 Pack by Valentine's day!
