My first post and hello to all.

Dear members,

As you can see, this is my first post and I sure will enjoy my time here in this wonderful forum with a bunch of great guys. Simply just to say hi and briefly introduce myself. Well, my name is Gary and I'm in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, where the then World Pool Championship was staged in 2005 and I had great memories because I hung out with the U.S. players everyday during that time. Earl, Johnny, Gabe, Corey, Mike davis, Danny Basavich, Schmidt, Rodney, Charlie Bryant and Williams... And I feel proud because they all recognized me and I bought a nine ball for Earl and Johnny to sign on it and that's priceless to me. Them two were my idols as I grew up playing pool so that really mean a lot to me, as for the rest, they all signed on a Q-ball too. I'm 37 but going to be 38 very soon, not married but have a girlfriend who got a great heart, personality but just ok looking. So my first question is, should I marry her because she's not consider "pretty"? Really, I really want to know you guys opinions, especially those who have experienced marriage. Although it's not pool-related but hope you guys don't mind. I'm working as International Sales Representative in this toner cartridge company and I'm a huge Giants fan because I use to live in New York, that's American football in case if you're not from the states. I'm very happy that I now can watch football through internet for only USD200.00 for the whole season, it was USD300.00 last season... For some reasons Taiwan's ESPN or other sporting channels don't broadcast football at all. I also like good songs and good foods but have been on a diet for the past 3 and a half months and lost 25KG, but I'm not done yet, still a few KGs to go. Well, so far it's pretty much non-pool related but just to make it more pool related, I was a pool player a long time ago and engaged in a lot of local tournaments. Although I don't play anymore but pool is always in my heart and I'll always have the pool players mentality in me. If there's anything you would like to know about Taiwan's pool, or other things, I would like to find out and inform you. So once again nice to meet you guys and you can tell me a little about yourself too. Later guys!

Dude, did you just come to a pool forum to ask people whether you should marry your girlfriend.

Nah man, I'm here to chat pool, kill time and things like that. As matter of fact, I didn't even think about that question before I wrote, so, please don't misunderstand.

Aw man, you get married to a person because of what is in their heart and yours, not how good looking they are.

Maybe she is posting on another forum.

"Should I marry this guy, he is nice but he has a little wee wee". How would that make you feel?

Do her a favor and set her free.

BTW, welcome to the forums.

Advices from an aged wise man should always be taken into consideration. But set her free? I'm not quite sure about that... She kinda likes me a lot, so I'm not sure if that'll be a good thing for her... And I do like her just not love... Maybe I'm confused? But thanks anyway.

Kiss, love, hug, rub and cherish a woman like she deserves and everything else will fall into place.
A woman may be Beautiful to me but not to you.
It's easy to fall in love, just make sure it's what you want in life because it's your life and you only live it once.

Welcome to the forum. Kaohsiung is my hometown too! Was there a few months ago but didn't get the chance to step into a pool room.

Good luck with your relationship.

What I want to know Gary is why don't the great Taiwanese players come to events like the US Open and Derby City. There is good money to be won and lots of action if they're interested. We've made several overtures to some of your best players, including free rooms and yet nothing. I want to know what's stopping them?

P.S. You're not ready for marriage yet. Wait until you're sure this is the woman you want to spend your life with.

Welcome to the forums :) I hope you return to playing pool. Lucky to meet so many pros.
I should learn more about the taiwan pros, when I see them on youtube... I know they play
at the highest level.

I think you should wait before marrying. When it's time to marry you will be very sure.
You might still be wrong but you will at least be 100% sure ^^

I know you're new here and all, and welcome to the forum by-the-way, but does your lady friend know that you consider her as being only, okay looking?
None of this is really any of my business, of course, but if you have had to lose 25kg (what is that, about eighty seven pounds?) then you may not be the catch of the day, either. Just saying.

I think pool is such a popular and organized sport in Taiwan that Taiwanese players make a decent living with tournaments and action domestically. Additionally, now with China emerging as a pool powerhouse, Taiwanese players can easily hop on a short plane ride across the strait to play.

Maybe if more U.S. pool tournaments/events are held on the west coast then it could attract more Asian players? That plane trip from Asia to the American east coast is no fun...

Giggle

After reading a post like this, I would usually just giggle and keep perusing. In this case, I've already giggled, but since you seem like a nice enough guy, I will reply.
So you say you like her alot but you don't love her. I have been married and divorced twice. Neither of my ex wives appreciated or understood my passion for pool. Needless to say, that cause major problems in both marriages. Whether or not pool is an issue in your relationship, it is a bad idea to even consider marriage to someone you are not in love with! Believe me. no matter how hard you try to love someone, you can't just make it happen. Maybe not today, tomorrow, or even next month or next year, but eventually you will regret marrying her if you don't love her. When that happens, the divorce process will add to the misery.
Don't get me wrong. I am not against marriage. Marriage for the right reasons is wonderful! My parents have been married for 61 years and are just in much love today as when they first were married. It works when the right two people are together.
By the way, there is a forum entitled, "Non Pool Related." Personally, I don't give a sh*t who posts what and where, but be warned, there are some folks on here who will blast you for posting in what they consider to be the "wrong" forum.

Jay you must not have heard that Chang Jun Lin and Ko Ping Yi would be playing in the US open this October 2012, Chang also playing the Challenge of champion
Jay, i know whats stopping them from going, lets chat and you will know the answer from me, :):):)

Gary welcome to the forum, well let me introduced myself, am Joyren Ting from the Philippines, a Filipino-Chinese living here since birth, :), well i have the honored to be good friends with both Taiwan's no 1 & 2 players, Chang Jun Lin and Ko Ping Yi, needless to say some players like Ko Ping Chun, Yang Chin Shun, Fu Che Wei.
Well i love playing pool, but for 2 months now, it seems my passion for pool is lost and has not played pool seriously, unlike before almost everyday you will see me in poolhall practising for 6 hours a day. I just turn to play Badminton and going to gym now.
Well thats just me

Happy shooting Gary

Gary,

If you want to be happy for the rest of your life,
Never make a pretty woman your wife.

So from my personal point of view,
Get an ugly girl to marry you.
