My Friday night home table maintenance ritual

Hey you home table owners. Chime in here.

Had my table rebuilt a year ago with Simonis 760 and Artemis rubber. Since then, I've been religious about keeping it clean.Through the week, I usually just brush my table daily and leave it at that.

But on Friday nights -- oh what a wimp I've become! Should be sliding off a barstool by now -- I start with a thorough brushing, followed by a cleaning with a microsoft towel soaked in water.

Meanwhile, I've got my Aramiths soaking in a tub of hot water with a few shots of Aramith ball cleaner.

I finish the table with another brushing (always one direction, head to toe) and sometimes finish by applying some Old English to the mahogany.

Then I take the microfiber cloth to the balls and polish them to a shine.

Finally, I do a practice session that's almost always my best of the week. And tonight, I felt like writing about it.

many years ago i bought a cheap vinyl cover from muellers for my dusty basement table. it works just fine, brush and hand held vacuum when the urge hits.

two things wrong with your method. Using the water will loosen your cloth and the oil the the rail cap with get on your hand and transfer to the cloth. If you want to get serious about cleaning your table get a simoinis X1.

I don't clean my table very often. That way, I get a better idea of how the local places play.

I vac and damp towel once a week. Clean the balls once a month with automotive cleaner wax.

I really like my X1... and you're right about the water on the cloth.. and about the oil on the rails.

I have a cover but I never use it.. unless I need to spread out some project on the table. I find that if I cover the table I tend to not use the table.
