My Gandy restoration

I couldn't find a forum about specific tables so if this needs to be moved somewhere else, go for it.

I bought a Gandy table about twelve years ago with the intent of refinishing it one day. Well that day came about two years ago. I printed a black carbon fiber using automotive wrap film with a clear gloss laminate and wrapped the top and side rails after sanding out some minor imperfections. I discovered that the table was build in 1966, so I located eighteen 1966 quarters and drilled out the points on the rails and inlaid the quarters alternating between heads and tails.

The chrome corner pieces had some dents in them so I found new replacements. I had a good mechanic come out and replace the rails and put down Sinomis tournament quality cloth. This table is incredibly fast and dead level. Everyone who plays on it falls in love with it.

I just picked up a 1964 Brunswick Viscount yesterday for $300.00 and plan to do the same thing. I need two tables because I have quite a few friends who love to shoot pool.

Here are a few photos of my Gandy when I finished it.

I also designed a new cue rack to match it. The last pic is just for distracting my opponents.

That is one seriously cool looking pool table. The carbon fiber is really sharp.

I'm glad it plays as good as it looks.

The CF is a nice touch, looks awesome! The snake rocks as well...gotta love pythons!

I have some really good ideas for the Viscount. I have a 2k s.f. cave that I am designing from the ground up. I've decided to go with steampunk for the overall theme. I also have a vintage 22' long shuffleboard table that I will restore, everything in steampunk. Should be about a two year project!

Beautiful job. Very creative. I had a Gandy Hustler in 1979. I'm a Gandy fan.

I have a new life goal when I retire - a table and gameroom that looks like that.

I'm saving the images and putting them on my sky drive in a folder "Retirement Game Room".

Thanks for allowing all of us to drool and slobber. :)

Did you use 3m Control Tac for the printing material? I have some of this in stock and thought about doing something similar.

I used Avery on my fridge and it turned out nice but just a bit brittle after 2 years. I've used the oracal before, it's a decent product. Laminating it was a smart move, it should last for several years now. Very nice job btw. I think it looks great.

Very cool look. The burm is cool too. I had a 15' albino I raised from just out of the egg. I still have a carpet python...she's a little easier to manage lol.

Fifteen foot is a handful, my Burmese was about eight. I no longer have him. I don't keep snakes any longer but do miss them.

I forgot that I had this picture of the table before I did my restoration. This is a coral snake I found in my shop one morning. Yes they are poisonous. I put him on the table to photograph because his colors contrasted nicely against the cloth. I released him back into the wild. Can't see a good reason to kill it. They are pretty snakes.

Remember...Red and black, friend of Jack. Red and yellow, kills a fellow!
