I will no more about this cue tomorrow, after speaking with Barry Szamboti. Thanks for looking Frank. Please feel free to contact me tomorrow at 1-520-510-7429. and Thanks Again.

How about telling the seller that we're close to his location and would like to see the cue in person...let's see if we get a response. I'm all over it...

I live about 30 miles away from the listed address and have not had any response from the seller.
Still waiting for my phone to ring.............

What would be funny is if he really had a Szamboti but thought they were generic.. so pics of any Gus would do. Maybe he has a box cue for 2500.00 lol.. but I will say this.. my uncle was friends with a guy named Eddie Brown who moved to Pheonix from Paterson NJ. My uncle sent him a Gus and he never paid him, this was like 1982 ish... It was like a 450.00 dollar cue at the time.

Someone lost their onetimedeal

Well, he must have smelled a sting or fleabay removed the item.

This listing (320306033321) has been removed or is no longer available. Please make sure you entered the right item number.
If the listing was removed by eBay, consider it canceled. Note: Listings that have ended more than 90 days ago will no longer appear on eBay.

Next time I think I would like to set up an off line buy. Then go get some Monopoly money and send it to him with a not so nicely toned letter...

I reported the item to eBay this morning and asked them to look into it. I also posted the link to this thread for them to review.

MY 2 CENTS WORTH after a wasted day off

This guy listed this cue on Craigslist/Phoenix about 2 months ago. I tried to find it again, but I couldn't. Maybe you can't search older listings on Craigslist. He had the same 2 pictures as on ebay. The heading just said -pool stick. When you clicked on it, then he says it's a Szamboti. I called him then. I don't know if it was the same phone number provided by half fast bankr or not. He told me when someone offered him $4500 for it he figured he needed to find out more about it. I asked him how he knew it was a Gus Szamboti. He said the name was on the butt. I told him that with his name on the cue it would increase the value of the cue. I told him then, that his son Barry made cues and to contact him about it. He said he really didn't care what he got for the cue as long as the person who bought it would appreciate it. The first one serious enough to take him the money would get the cue. I didn't see or hear anymore about it so I figured the person who offered $4500 for it came up with the money. More in my next post.

My Wasted Day Off

So to continue on. That was the past. Today I called the number provided by Half fast bankr and sure enough it was the same guy. I recognized his voice. Last time he didn't post as being in Casa Grande. I figured Casa Grande was close enough for me to take a look. I set up an appointment to meet with him at 11 AM, but before we were done talking he moved it to NOON. He didn't want me coming to his house, so we were to meet at a business. I got to the meeting point 1 HR early to find that it had shut down so I called him and set up a different spot to meet. I was patient and waited 45 minutes past our meeting time. Then I called him and got no answer, but I left a message. I waited half an hour more then called it a NO SHOW. So 4 hours of my day and $25 in gas just to take a Sunday Drive on a Tuesday. He could have just told me NO to begin with. The first time I talked to him 2 months ago he said he traveled alot and if it didn't sell he would put it on ebay and open up a bank account just for the ebay auction. He didn't want anyone having access to his regular account. I was going to get and post pictures and specs of the cue on the forum when I got home, so that those with money could see them and decide whether to bid or not. I also told him last time that if he spent the $300-$500 to get it authenticated by Barry he could get more interest in the cue. But I guess if you don't really have a cue to sell it would be a WASTE OF TIME. Didn't I hear that somewhere before? I should have just stayed home and read the forum.

Question - If you use an Escrow service to buy something high-value like this does it guarantee the goods delivered will actually be as described, or simply ensure that the seller delivers a cue of some kind before transferring the payment?

I guess that an escrow service includes guaranteeing the sold item's condition is as described. I think this is pretty much what I have read somewhere at proficientbilliards.com
