My father was a pretty good pool player in the South Texas area. As I grew up my father paid for alot of nice things my family did with pool money before his Real Estate business kicked in. When I was young he never tried to get me interested in playing pool. When I went to college at UT austin he would call me up and tell me he was at a local pool hall and would buy me something to eat if I came by. It turned out to be moyers pool room in Austin and he has Little Al Romero, Jose Luis Barrientes, Ismael Rodriguez and El Nino with him. So, never having played pool before I watch as my father and his friend take off the locals for a few thousand and it looks like magic to me with the way they can move that cue ball around for the next shot.

My favorite story about Little Al Romero is that he playes Steve Stickney some nine ball and after Al is up about three or four hundred at twenty a game, Steve quits.

So Al tells Steve he is from San Antonio and just likes to play pool and will play left handed. Steve jumps on that and doubles the bet to forty a game. After another three for four hundred dollars Steve quits again. Al told him, ok well I will give you a spot, what do you want.

Steve takes apart his cue and tells Al, I don't know who you are, I don't know where you are from but I will not play you anything, not even marbles or jacks because I have no chance in winning.

This is my first post to this group and if I am in the wrong area let me know. If you want to hear more stories about my trips on the road with Rafael Martinez or Efren then let me know.

Yes we like those type stories. I sat right next to Rafael Martinez in Norman Okla. one afternoon. I thought I had his chair, but he said no just stay seated and I got a front row seat with him playing James Walden. They both ran multiple racks, I don't even know who won. Rafael could really hit em good.

You are in the right place. Welcome Cesar, and we like lots of pool stories. Keep em coming if you have more.

We would love more stories.. you keep telling them and we'll keep listening! Thanks in advance!
