I like the look of those leather pockets. I'm assuming they are the ones on Ken Hash's web site. Could you take a picture straight down on them. I would like to see how much the pocket lip covers.
Thank you

View attachment 265912I'm in love....awesome job and many thanks to Trent and 8 on the Break....in Toledo, Ohio. Give him a call and tell him you saw Matt's table posted on AZ!

It is absolutely gorgeous! Have hours and hours of fun! I don't mean to pile on here but my vote is always to have your cloth, THE COLOR OF MONEY. Just my two cents ... not taking anything away from what you did. Just personal preference.

Thanks to all

Mainly thanks to the guy who says he is happy with the table and how it plays. I also respect people who can constructively criticise someone else's work. I really appreciate all the positive comments!

If you get the Simonis cloth installation DVDs, they'll help you fully understand how to install the bed cloth with no stretch shadows, and the cloth won't come loose end to end over time, as that bed cloth will. I'm not knocking your work, just trying to help you fully understand a better way of installing cloth. I fully understand the work involved in working on pool tables...been doing it for 30 years;)

Glen

this is true, its a art to pull cloth correctly so there are no shadows and even worse CB skids.

The 1945-47 Anniversary Model came factory w/ no side pocket casting and no leg stretcher. This table was never modified as far as I know and has only 2 previous owners. There is a dowel on each side pocket seam. I actually considered putting in a side pocket casting and also the leg stretcher to make it look like Model D-C, but, went with it as you see!

P.s. Sorry "dontlitethat" my cloth stretch was not perfect! I played on it before we left and it shoots nice!!! It should relax a little as well. Matt: if you notice any issues: I AM YOUR BILLIARD MECHANIC!!! I am in your area often and stand behind my work! Thanks for the constructive criticism, some people can be real jerks about that!

- the simonis DVD will help.
I'm sure you put a lot of time into the table to look good. Once you get comfortable with simonis cloth and understand what it is, you will sell a lot more of it because its consistent when installing it and how it plays once its installed...
Not saying I'm perfect at table work' I have made mistakes....most installers kinda educate their selfs when working on tables. I'm not the one to say what's right or wrong but I have learned to open my eyes and ears to improve my table workings and not be stubborn to not try new methods. I know we all are on this site because of our love for billiards and enjoy to discuss the subjects that are posted. I hope the best for you. Feel free to visit the talk to a mechanic section here in the forums where cloth installation has been a subject of many threads.
Thanks

Don't know you, Trent, but I def like your style. :)

You did a *gorgeous restoration* on this customer's classic Anniversary and your openness to learn all you can about setting up the equipment, I suspect, is gonna take you very far.

best,

I am so jealous

I have 2 tables at my house, a gold crown 1 and a valley barbox. They are side by side in my basement. If I ever get a house with a big enough room for a table in a living room, I would get an Anniversary.

I like the cloth color, really sets off the wood tone.

Loads of fun

So I went to bed last night listening to my teenage son and his friend enjoying the new pool table (responsibly and with warnings of death!). This was after many games myself. It's so incredible to watch a 6 to 7 foot shot run true down the rail of the Anny. (Hey.....I think I've just named her)

ChevyBob, I'll get you photos of the pockets today. Just follow up with Trent at 8 on the Break if you need more details.

Thanks to ALL!

Just spoke to the proud owner of the table. he has his man cave open for today and reports that the table is playing true! I really appreciate all of you guys not being jerks! I have no issues with the fact of my "newbie" status in the world of Billiard Mechanics: I work hard and study hard. I am always learning and willing to listen. I have completed 41 table purchases, moved/ worked on 10 private customer tables, and sold & installed 37 tables since I started last year. 9 of those sales were restorations, 6 Gold Crown II's, the 1945 Anniversary Model C on this thread and pictures #3 & #9 on my main ad from the second link below. I almost forgot about those 2, they were not classics but came out sharp!

Link to my Craigslist ad w/ pictures of all of the recent restorations:

The New Years Eve Gold Crown was an old school Saffron Billiard's restoration! The rest I completed. Actually, all 6 have been this year! AND the Anniversary Table!

and my regular ad showing my favorite installs:

Thanks again for the courtesy and respect. Very happy to hear from you guys and I hope to meet all of you at some point in the future!

Trent

P.s. I STILL HAVE 4 GOLD CROWN II'S on hand and getting a bunch of GOLD CROWN IV''s in stock very soon!

Nice table, I am sure you are going to be very happy with it.

I do need to say if you use red chalk that it is the messiest stuff made, and your cues shafts will become a dirty shade of red too.

Red was clearly a decor decision....I was torn between this and Dark Green (32). Ultimately, the coin toss went to red.

Thanks to all for the positive feedback. I'm blessed for this to be my first table and already know it is not my last. I already told Trent to keep an eye out for an 8 ft Centennial as that is what I really wanted....but just didn't have the cash to sink in to it.

Criticism aside, I have to give the biggest thanks to Trent at 8 on the Break. For a restorer that has only been in the field for a year, he was the ultimate pro and took great care in making this table the best. He spent nearly 5 hours just on the set up and assembly alone at my house. My first break at 1:30 this morning was priceless.

Leather pocket pictures as requested by Chevy Bob. Trent at 8 on the break can give you more details.

Tony in MD - Thanks for the chalk input. I have noticed the red is messy. Any advice on color or brand of chalk that would be best?

Well here is the problem. Red chalk on Red cloth means you won't see it. That is what most want.

Any other color of chalk will show up on the table bed. It will just force you to clean the surface more (which is not a bad thing)!

I like good old fashioned Masters Blue.

Craigslist..... Come on! Hacks use Craigslist to advertise for free and it looks like your advertising your worked here hoping to get more phone calls on table work, I suggest you study on the difference between a pool table mechanic and a INSTALLER before you claim to be what you say you are. And I will bet all the marbles that if a ball is shot diagional across the stretch shadows at low speed the ball will track the pattern of your stretch.
We have some very talented pool table mechanics around the site that visit and share pictures of their work. Feel free to search the pool table mechanic directory to see what it takes to cut the mustard.
Best of luck'
