My "New" GC 134 - Part 1 (long)

Table looks sweet! Hats off to Turk and everyone else involved to bring that table back from the dead:thumbup:

Mechanics that do this kind of work, and the work done on the tables at Skip and Jan's deserve a phone call if you live in their area before any other table mechanics get a call...as they've taken the time to show what they can do....instead of just talk the talk....like so many just do. I've pushed table mechanics to do better and better all the time...and now you can start seeing the reasons why;)

Thanks Mark. My wife is from Shickshinny, we bought her uncle's farm to build on. I've been coming up here for over 24 years now and it definitely feels like home. If you're coming through let me know and maybe we can hit a few.

Mike,
Thank you, I hope the table is what you expected! I got a lot of help on this one. Pat O'Donnel drove 11 hours round trip to John Burn's shop. I had the rails in my hands to start the rebuild the next day. John and Pat saved my butt. John came through with a beautiful set of GC2 rails. I started the rebuild as soon as they arrived. I've rebuilt many GC 1's and 3's but the GC2 rails are different. I called Mark Gregory, and who walked me through some of the problems that could arise. The GC2 rails are thicker from top of formica to the base of the rail. When the sub-rail is cut to a proper height the drop from the formica to the cloth on the rail is too large. This required some experience. I am very proud of this table. The effort put forth by John, Pat and Mark is greatly appreciated. Your table was built by the A-Z Mechanics! I appreciate the opportunity to perform the work. I hope you you enjoy your GC1234.

Here are some before and after pic's of the rails:

Bob, that thing looks great! That is some serious workmanship. It has been the best experience meeting and talking with you and Pat who are two great mechanics and great guys.

I had the easy part, we were all in bed when Pat got on the road to get those rails. Look forward to many more tables together!

Those rails turned out great. Very nicely done. I will be starting a battle of my own soon with the Skip and Jan's Gold Crowns. It is always nice to see the after pics to keep me motivated!

Mike, the table and new house look awesome, good on you, man.

Hey, is the table a GC I or GC II (originally)? I believe the difference was the adjustable feet and the corner pocket castings. Maybe someone in da know can chime in.

Looking at the basement walls, it looks like you went with Superior Walls. I used the same thing for my foundation when I had my house built, 4 years ago. Best foundation you could buy. Did you have a new house built on the old farm?

What's up Eric? Good to hear from you. The table was originally a GC I, though about the only thing left from that table is the base and blinds. Not sure what all the differences were between the I and II. I recently learned that later GC Is had adjustable feet. That's where mine came from.

Yes, Superior Walls are great.

We built the house almost five years ago on the old property. Here it is:
