My "new" Gold Crown 1

Just purchased an old Gold Crown from a friend who's moving. He had it broken down to make room for his new Diamond a couple of years ago. It's in better shape than I thought. Have it moved in and the frame set up. Now I just need a good mechanic to come through NE PA....Glen?!?!

The frame is ROCK SOLID, amazing build quality on this old table. The frame is stamped K1999. Does anyone know if this is a serial # and if there is anything I can glean from this number? I've sent the same question to Brunswick.

I apologize for the crappy phone pictures. I forgot my camera!

I'll post pix as I progress.

Are you in VA, or PA?

Mind sharing the $ paid for a GCrown today?

I am jealous.

old school

Wow, looks like someone did a nice job staining that bad boy to match the rails. Looks pretty similar to mine. :D

Post this on the Talk to a mechanic page. More qualified people may answer your question.

Yeah Mike, they only weigh about 215 lbs apiece.

Congrats on the acquisition!! I have a GC1 also. It was Jimmy Caras' personal table that he sold to me before he went to live with his daughter in FL.

If you need a mechanic, call up Tacony Billiards and ask who they use. A friend of mine had her Diamond set up by him and she said he did a fantastic job. Or call Drexeline and ask Bob who sets up his tables. Bob's real finicky about his equipment.

Good shooting!

I live in VA but this table is going into our cabin in PA near Wilkes-Barre. It will be our retirement home.

I paid $300 for this table. My friend who owned the table did a GREAT job refinishing the blinds. When I get a better camera I'll get some better pictures of them. It also came with LOTS of extra parts, including pedestals, bridge, and an entire spare set of blinds. He put this table together from three separate tables that came from a bowling alley somewhere in MD. The slates are rough and come from all three tables. He had the table playing really nice with lots of rock putty though.

Wes and I actually got the slates unloaded and laying on the frame! We could've of used your hubby's help. .

Where is Tacony? Glen said he may be in my neck of PA sometime soon and I'd like to use him if at all possible but if he can't make it I'll need a backup.

I'm about two hours from Drexeline but much closer to Cosmo's. Maybe I'll stop in and talk to them.

Well, I am now exhausted and drinking a beer. I could sure use some of those highly addictive nuts about now!!!:D

Hey Mike!!

Tacony's in northeast Philly. Cosmo's is a great place! Get some pizza while you're there. I hear there's a new owner, but he'll know where to send you. The pizza is awesome in that area. I never eat the "stuff" around me, they don't know what real pizza is, so when JPNEWT had an event at Cosmo's, I brought a pie home and my hubby went bonkers and understood what I was talking about.

Good luck with your new table. Cosmo's has all Diamond tables that play awesome. They had Diamond come in to set them up. I don't think they can help with the GC1. Talk to Bob at Drexeline and get his table guy.

Take care!
