I was supposed to arrive at 10 but didn't get to the hotel until 12:30 am due to delays and re-directed flights (There's always drama when I fly!!) I was told that the bar closed early (around 1am) so I headed to the bar after dropping off my luggage(after 2 un-named people DITCHED ME for sleep!!:p ) and I got two beers and went in search of a seat in the action room. The first person I ran into was SteveLomako. LOL, he knew right away who I was... (something about walking around with two beers in my hand) :p I found a seat next to Steve and shortly there after came Satman who talked to us for quite awhile. I called it a night at 4am (I had gotten up at 5am to go to work that day!)

There's no way that I can remember all the AZB'ers that I met and there's some that I wanted to meet and still didn't get a chance to meet. Thank you to those of you that came by the Inside Pool booth and introduced yourself to me. There were some slow times during the week when there were less people there and the booth could get pretty boring during those times. I was extremely lucky in that I had some very nice people sit and talk to me to help pass the time. CrownCityCorey...what can I say, you're the best! You sat with me the most and had me laughing the whole time!! You always introduce me to the nicest people! Stephano, Ernesto, Oscar, Louis, Connie. I don't think I've met anyone from California that I don't like! Corey, thanks for introducing me to such nice people and for keeping me company. Another person that helped keep me company was John Schmidt. He was appreciative of the nice things I've said about him in the past and he reciprocated by also making me laugh and making my time spent working in the booth pass by quickly.

Many dear old friends were there and many dear friends were made. I can't begin to thank everyone or mention all that I met. I just wanted to get a special thanks out to Corey & John for their time & laughter.

I woke up Tue with a cold and never really shook it off. I've still got a sore throat & stuffy nose.

Three memorable moments of Derby....
1. After beating Efren in the one pocket tourney, Shawn Putnam comes over to tell us that he "doesn't play that good.". (Shawn played Earl on the tv table and won, and hour or so later he had to play Efren in the pit and then 5 min after playing Efren in the pit, he had to play Corey Duel in the pit and won) But he really doesn't play that good. Congrats Shawn!

2. Joey korsiak, right before they started their one pocket match....Joey tells his opponent "I'm an idiot at this game".

3. Tang Hoa in the IPT qualifier..... After being called on for two shirt fouls, Tang took his shirt off! LOL!!

To me, there's more colorful, funny characters in pool than there are poker!

Another special thanks to Samiel. He gave up his spot on the chalk board to me so that I could shoot in the AZ room. He then transferred all of my pics & burned them onto a disk for me. He also took it easy on me when we were playing pool. Thanks Samiel.... you were a very nice, personable, friendly person to be around.

Hal, I wish we could've spent more time hanging out. I do hope that you had a good time and will go back next yr!

Randi, thank you so much for taking on the room duty during the day. Each day my work schedule at the booth changed and I'm sorry that I wasn't able to relieve you more than the one time. Ratchet, thank you also for stepping in and also for trying to keep order in the room next door when the VIP's were using it to test out their new cues.

There's tons more to thank and remember but I'm sure this is plenty long enough & boring to some. I'll try to add more experiences when replying to posts that pertain to my experiences. I hope everyone had half as good of a time as I did!

BTW, Sizl.... I hooked you up buddy! I think you'll like what WBM has to send back your way. ;)

Thanks Linda! I'm sorry that you guys weren't able to get out there but I understand. Hopefully this next yr will be a better one for you and your family. LOL, funny thing about the beer.... the bar closes at 4am!! There was no need for me to be buying two that night but I didn't want to chance it. I had a very long day traveling and was looking forward to having two or three to unwind.

Hey Timberly! Thanks for the kind words about Louis and me ~ it was really great meeting you and hanging out together! Boy, after that looong week, I swear I needed to be hooked up to an IV to replenish all my liquids from ALL THAT SWEATING!!

It was a fun first Derby City Classic for the both of us and meeting such nice and funny people like you made the experience even more memorable. I hope we run into each other again soon!

Timberley, sounds like you had a great time! I wish I would have made the trip, my group decided not to go, I begged and pleaded with a couple of my friends and said I would even pay for their expenses. But even that did not work! Damn proud single women! Just kidding. Maybe next year I will make the trip and hopefully we can enjoy some cold ones!:D

I did have a great time and I was wondering where in the heck you were. I thought that surely you wouldn't NOT find me and introduce yourself! There were some that didn't and that's ok....some people are shy & some people don't like me. (can't please everyone right??) ;) Next time, come down without them! I had a room all to myself, you could've crashed there if need be.

I do want to find out who someone was though.... there's a girl with medium blonde hair that was there the 1st wkend, left & came back later in the week. She offered me her seat upstairs once and she also stopped and talked to me at the bar on Sat for a few min..... What's your screen name on here??? You can send me a PM if you don't want to post anything out here.

That is hilarious! LMAO. Were their any repercussions from the TD?

Thanks for a great post as well as the "favor". It is most appreciated:D

It was great to meet you Timberly! I had been playing wayyy too much anyhow and I hadn't gotten to see you play... that and it's fun to watch women bend over... wait, nevermind! You shoot a good stick... good enough to run over me, 3-1 in 9-ball! :p

Hopefully I'll be there next year and you can give me a re-match! :p

Thanks Vagabond. It was a long 10 days and I'm still not caught up on my sleep so my memory is still not working properly. I ran into a couple of folks from TX that I never thought I would see again.... Steve "lizard" Smith and Joey Barnes. Lizard has moved down to south TX but Joey is still in the Arlington area. CJ Wiley said that he's about to open up another place in the Dallas area. He hasn't changed too much... still wearing those colorful shirts that he always wore.

While I didn't get a chance to spend a lot of time talking to Semperfi and his wife, I will say that they're my kind of people. After closing their booth for the night they would stay down at their booth and just hang out talking to friends while enjoying a cold beer. Mrs. Semperfi came into the room a couple of times when I was there and she was always a nice, fun lady. Jack Justis ....what a pleasure it was to meet him. Jack is a very personable person...easy guy to like.

Mike Davis was playing in the 10 ball barbox tourney where they were filming all the happenings. They kept announcing that the camera crew would do their best not to be intrusive.... the guy holding the microphone had his back to Mike while he talked to someone and almost hit Mike in the head with it as Mike went to rack the balls. As perfect timing would have it, when Mike was racking they brought the camera over to get him racking....the only problem was that Mike racked 'em up for 9 ball instead of 10 ball. LOL, not as funny here in print but quite comical in person. Nothing like making a mistake and having the camera in your face to capture it. :D

After quite a bit of coaxing from Ronnie Wiseman, T-Rex got up in the bar and danced a few dances with two of the girls that were already dancing. He's a big boy but he's got some moves!

One night I got on the elevator to go down stairs and a guy was being escorted down by the security supervisor. It seems he was caught playing cards up in someone's room and to make sure an end was put to the gambling, they escorted him off the floor. The guy told the guard that he knew he was just doing his job and that he was going to help the guy do his job. Once off the elevator he took the guard to the action room and said "all of these guys are gambling, have at it". The guard just walked away. I had to chuckle because it was kind of ironic.... they told him he had to quit gambling in a room but it was perfectly ok for people to gamble out in the open. :p
