What makes you think I don't like AZB? I love it here and it has been VERY good to me in many ways, online and in the real world.

I just don't like people who betray their privilege as members.

I seldom even look at ebay any more. Too many outright crooks , or they found it in a dumpster and want 3 grand for it. Years ago most sellers were just getting rid of stuff they were done with , now every hillbilly in the western hemisphere is an "entrepreneur"

Well I find a lot of items on eBay that are available no where else. Bicycle parts, odd ball items people have had for years, and decide to sell.

Yes EBay does have some not so honest sellers, or people selling counterfeits.

But if you are careful chance are good you will have ok experience.
 
Ok, getting back on track, I found a sleeper on eBay.

It was a current production well known popular cue, brand name not not identified but priced close to $1,000 at seyberts with a single shaft, with a starting bid price of $40.00.

Blurry pictures but the description had the shaft diameter of both shafts, shaft type, weight, length, and a description of a ding that was supposed to be displayed in the blurry pictures. So even with the blurry pictures I had confidence that it was in pretty good shape if he was concerned enough to take a picture of a dent and put it on display. Also came with a "Genuine Leather" case, that was described as "Appears to be made by a highly talented leather smith, very high quality".

Ok, I followed the auction and when it came time for it to end, it was at $120.00 and I waited until ten seconds and put a bid on for $320.00. I won it for $135 and paid for it immediately and went to bed.

Next day I look and there is no record of the purchase and the payment has been credited back to my paypal account.

I messaged the seller trying to find out what happened.

He responded "It was stolen from me yesterday and the cue and case were worth a lot more then $135 so I cancelled the sale".

I responded, "ok, which is it, did it get stolen or you just decided not to sell it because the bids were low? please do not lie to me again"

Now I can understand being disappointed with the price brought in from the auction but the seller is responsible for the lousy pictures that did not generate the lousy bids, he can set the starting price, the reserve price, and has all the control on the sale of the cue.

I guess I am not out of anything but I have lost any enthusiasm to check ebay for good deals.

You should have reported him to eBay. If he wanted a certain amount for it, he should have set a Reserve or listed it as a Buy it Now.

I bet you're a treat at a garage sale or the flea market.

Someone looks at your table and sees your prices are ridiculous, so they politely walk away. Do you feel they owe you a purchase after looking?

No response should be expected, a response is a bonus, and a sale is ideal.

You can report but the off shore sellers will just open new shops stores on eBay.

S.T. Dupont is constantly being know off, and the counterfeits are all over eBay.

Price is the tell, but some people like the copy lighters.

The transaction in question sounded like a private seller.
