My son's cue and table

Bought my 4 year old son this mini pool table for xmas. He loves it, but the cues that came with it are too long, too fat, and made of ramin wood. I decided to make him a nice maple cue to play with. Cut from an old 19 oz valley house cue, it measures 33" long, 5.25 oz, and i had it tapered down to 10mm by a fellow AZ buddy. Ferruless with a water buffalo tip. Joint collar, buttcap, and wrap are all black electrical tape. It looks nice and actually plays decent. I can get a table length draw with this thing. He loves it! He even told me he is getting better than me today.:eek: Enjoy the pics :thumbup:

That table is incredibly cute :-)) That cue should be put away as soon as he switches to an SW or Gus or something :)

His stance reminds me greatly to Irving Crane! He really must be onto something.

Probably the nicest Xmas present that a pool player father's son can get - especially with a personal cue.

I never rate threads but this deserves five stars.

I got the same one for my son 6 years ago after my father in law introduced my then 2 year old son to the game by giving him numbered pingpong balls, thats another story... we used that table in our first apartment together and I could jump on it after a lot of practice... :D
 
I have thought really hard about having a miniature table made that really works and plays like a big table.

What are your thoughts on this? Would you buy one for $100-$200

Say that it was about the size of a coffee table or less and the rails were real, the balls were real and high quality and the cues were real. Everything to perfect scale.

Do you all see any market for this?

I really really really want to do it and I can but it would cost me about 5gs to get everything in place to produce them.

And to the OP - very well done - you have a future world champion in the making.

I always thought it would be really funny to travel around the country husting people on those little tables.

The Dufferin mini table has miniature real pool balls, real pool rails but only a 3/8 wood top, improve on that and you'll do well within the billiard community...
 
That's Awsome!!! My kid has the same table, but never uses it any more. Maybe I will break it out for him this weekend. Still have to make him a good cue though.

For $200 I would buy one today. Lets see it get made
 
Almost all of my male friends in AA had a very poor relationship with their father. I don't know that there's a proveable cause/effect relationship that would show that poor fathering caused the son to become a heavy alcohol/drug user but I sure wish I'd had the relationship with my father that you have with your son.

Spending quality time with the boy will be the greatest gift you could every give him. You really can't imagine how much of a gift it is unless you didn't get it. Then you know how much it hurts to have a dad that refuses to spend time with you.

I'd buy one for my daughter! she loves pool. can't sit still for 20 minutes to finish any of fer veggitales or Backyardigans DVDs but can sit with me and watch hours of pool on youtube! haha drives my wife crazy. I gave her a shaft from a piece of poop cue i bought at Walmart for her to play with! it's her favorite toy.:grin:
 
Thanks for all the great replies everyone!! I bought this table at target before xmas. it was 50, marked down to $40. The quality of the balls is actually the most impressive part. As far as my son playing, he enjoys hitting them around but I dont even attempt to make him get serious and sour him from the game. At this point every shot is a "trick shot" lol. Its pretty cool just to watch him learn to hit a ball with accuracy. Four is a great age and I fully enjoy every second of it. Thanks :)
