My table

Here's the deal. I really enjoy my table, but I've come to hate my pockets. They're not angled correctly and some of them spit the ball back onto the table. I've taken the table apart and there IS NO adjustment.

My wife is very adament about not getting a GC or a Diamond. She hates the way they look. She doesn't want to "ruin the decor". (Women)

Anyway, Can my pockets be changed over to buckets? Or do you think I should buy another style of pocket? Again, there is no adjusting the current pockets. They're bolted in and they will not rotate or move in any direction whatsoever.

Ask Diamond if their home-tables (that look much like yours) can come with the pockets you desire?

Other than that, I guess you'd have to do some serious shimming of the pockets to get them to the correct size and angle. They sell facings to do this.

I cant see your table very well from the picture provided, but it may not be your Pockts, but your rails. It almost looks like the edges of your rails are angled bad in compairison to your pockets.

It's got nothing to do with the rails. I'm talking about the ball hits the back of the pocket and comes back onto the table. The ball should hit the back of the pocket and then shoot downward into the pocket. Mine does not. I guess I'm going to have to take it apart and show a picture.

There's no way your putting buckets on there. I have had simular instances and customers houses and have just had to order and install another set of pockets to remedy this. I will assume that your pockets are leather and not vinyl. Does it hit the tip ring of the pocket and spit out or the webbing underneath? Also, is it all the pockets or just one or two?

This might be a very stupid question but i'll ask it anyway. When you know that your table is acting like that then why not considering better pocket speed?

It's just one or two. The "ears" of the irons go into the rails and a bolt screws in from underneath. Once that bolt goes in, they're locked in place. If you take the bolt out, it's even worse. Yes they are leather.

Why should I HAVE to use pocket speed? Especially on a straight in side pocket shot?

IMO, you have two options either use it or fix the table. And as long as table is not fixed then it's about pocket speed if you want those balls to stay in. BUT who am i to say, since i have my difficulties to pot balls myself.

Hal, your Irons in your pockets are to low and hitting the cue ball smack dab in the middle and it is banking the ball back out onto the table.

Bent or adjust the irons so they are EVER SO SLIGHTLY higher so the hit the upper 50% of the cue ball and it will toss it DOWN into the hole rather than back at you.....

Try to take one of your pockets apart. There may be several things wrong. As was stated earlier, they might not be the right height or right angle. But if the balls are spitting back out it may be the rivets or Chicago screws behind the facing. I took mine apart and used good nylon string to attach the leathers and facings. It may not be as hard as you think. PM me if you need more help .

Yall are correct. The problem is in the irons. I've already taken one to work and was going to heat it and bend it slightly. The problem is that they are "pot" metal or "cast". In other words, they're made from really shitty cheap material. I'm afraid to put much heat on them because they'll break. I'm going to take one a part and post a picture.

My table is exactly the same, its very old table. It was my aunts table that passed away and they ended up throwing the table outside for years so i asked if i can have it and i ended up fixing it up but some boards i just reused and there are broken and missing the corners, but i love it. Its a three piece slate table that i got the electric blue felt and some drop pockets for. I have to take some pictures of it and post them up, but i love your table Hal. And i would keep it and get a new one LOL i have always wanted the New Olhausen tables the one where the legs look like a bridge.

Note: Very nyce pool room Hal.

Hal, I know a great way to get the exact table that you really want,
unfortunatly it involves two diamonds.

Are you sure it's not easier to bend your wife? Maybe too much heat and she'll break too:D

I doubt she'd consider that the big screen TV was just decor if the picture was fuzzy.

Remember, life is the test of good against evil, of function over feeling, of man v woman. Don't give up the fight! :p :D

I mean this is a nice playing table. It's a Cannon brand. The slate is 1.25 thick. It's got a good solid feel when you play on it. I think I just need different pockets.
I won't be able to post the pics of the pocket irons until Monday. There are 20 people coming over today for a BBQ.

Sounds like a Pool Party, who wants to play $20 a ball :D

Find a machinist to make you new ones ;) :D :D Seriously, if they break/melt, could you make new ones ?

You're just doing this for the Driver Maker tournament, aren't you ?!?!

Good advice here.

That's a great idea...Why didn't I think of that. Myself and some guys at work have talked about making new ones but they will be very time consuming. I think I'll be better off just buying some.
