there is no question that the top 20 female players are great players, and there is no reason for woman not to play as good as men, but for the top 20 woman there are at least a 1000 men who play that speed, and another 10000 who play just below it. and the opinion that the match on the link is bad is completely on target, that was terrible! they shot balls into the rails! i do Know Bonnie and i know she plays better than that(much better), but the match was terrible! furthermore anyone who can make a ball has a chance to win a match on the spirit tour, because there are always 10 players at each tourney that are subject to miss ball in hand!
Perhaps you haven't seen the recent video on Youtube which showed Efren missing a shot with ball in hand?

A woman could be trained to be at the level of the mens division. But with the women's tour why would they want to spend that much time practicing.
If your comment is true, you should have your answer soon enough. As I understand it, Jasmin Ouschan has been trained as thoroughly as any person out there.

http://www.azbilliards.com/interviews/jasmin.cfm

AZB: First off, how old are you and how long have you been playing pool?

Jasmin: I´m just 16 years old and I play pool since the age of three. I started playing tournaments with 7 and since this age I got my own trainer.

AZB: I understand you have a regular instructor back home in Austria. Can you tell us about that?

Jasmin: My trainer is since the beginning Michael Neumann. He is the best trainer and coach and he is not only my trainer he is one of my best friends. I´m very proud to have him on my side.

AZB: Did we hear correctly that he has had you only playing men for the last 2 years?

Jasmin: Not that is only a mere rumour. Tournaments like the European Championships or Austrian Championships and the World Championships I play in the Youth division. But, and this is true, in all the other tournaments I play only in the men´s division, like the Men Euro - Tour or the other big tournaments in Austria.

AZB: It sounds like you already have a plan for your pro career.

Jasmin: Sure I have a plan. At first I want to finish the school (this year and another) and than I want to go to the USA to play professional pool. I like the United States so I´m very excited.

confused

First, no offenses intended. I am so impressed with Jasmin's
game and style, I could not adequately describe it. I only saw
the one match, when she beat Allison. I found her website, and
admire her dedication and hard work immensely. I look
forward to seeing more of her matches in the future.

But, why is it referred to a "men's tour", if she plays on it?

Bruin,

Hmmm, I wish I could say this was true, but it's not. As far as I remember, I played 3 sets with Allison that day, winning only one of them. I think every set was at least 9-6, though.

I have a ton of respect for her game; she made remarkably few errors, and broke the balls quite hard with a lot of control.

I haven't really read this thread, so I don't know what I'm arguing for or against, lol. But I had to set the record straight about that day.

I just analyzed the Jeannie Seaver vs. Bonnie Coats final #2, and these are the results:

In a race to 7, Jeannie failed to make a ball on the break 3 times, missed 14 shots, had 4 safety errors, 1 or 2 positional errors, 1 break and run, and 1 cue ball scratch

Bonnie failed to make a ball on the break 3 times, missed 10 shots, had 4 safety errors, 4 positional errors, scratched once, no break and runs, and 1 scratch

overall:

No balls on break - 6 times
Missed shots - 24
Safety errors - 8
Positional errors - 6
Break and runs - 1
Cue ball scratches - 2

I think this emphasizes my statement earlier about them not being able to get in the money in a weekly nine ball tourney. In a race to seven, there were 24 missed shots and only 1 break and run. That, my friends, is worse than B player around here at least.

Jeannie is hot or cold. I have seen her go Hill Hill with Ga Young twice where there were no more than 1-2 misses each also and once in 25 minutes.

She has only played in one 'Regional "Men's Event" that i know of and she won two matches on the winners side and then im not sure but i think she won 1-2 more.

Her bad days are not pretty for sure.

I saw a match with Jon Horsfall once with similar stats-once he missed a 2-1/2 ft straight in shot by at least 6 inches. I was a 'D' player at the time and i felt i would have easily beaten him. A short while later he won Reno-It's a funny game.

Gerda Hofstatter played local tournaments under the USPPA system for a while when she was living in S.F. - perhaps 5-6 years ago. Her skill rating was in the mid 120's. I think that's considered a strong shortstop.

Billy Palmer is currently a 163. For further reference, here's an analysis of some pro matches in a recent Reno Open.

If you want to treat DVD sales like news, hey go right ahead. It's your business. However, everybody looks at the news and gives their opinion and that opinion isn't necessarily going to be positive (and newspapers are okay with that). Perhaps you're on to something. Perhaps there's a huge market out there for this. I don't think so but I'm not in the business of selling DVDs either.

Neither am I. I don't know where you got the idea that I sell DVD's of these matches. You get a point for originality though--I've never had anyone try to talk me out of posting free pool matches on the web.

Please do not stop posting matches. It is a great thing in this world to have someone who is not money hungry and just wants to spread the game. I, and many others, love what you are doing. Keep it up!
