Hiya guys,

As ya'll already know, I'm heading out for quite awhile. My wife, who has tried to be patient with me and my pool addiction, absolutely floored me when she said she wanted to get me a "going away" present.

As she knows me well enough to know that pool is the only thing I enjoy in my sparse free time...she wants me to buy a cue for myself with some funds she's tucked away in her paypal account. She was considering picking one up for me while I was away...but realized that I am pretty particular, and thought I should pick one out for myself. This will be a cue I can take with me on my travels, and hopefully get VERY familiar with on those days I find myself near a morale center.

So....here I am. MY TIME IS LIMITED, AND I'LL BE PACKING MY BAGS REAL SOON....SO THERE'S NOT MUCH TIME TO WASTE.

HERE'S MY SPECS LIST:

19-19.5 ounces (19.25 being the IDEAL)
Piloted Steel Joint
Some kind of wrap (prefer linen)
Ivory ferrules are much preferred

Budget - $800-$1000

Hit me up with what ya got. My wife is motivated to get me something nice...and I'm motivated to help her succeed!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!!!

Mark

What a lucky man you are to have such a wife. I hope you treat her right, she deserves it.

Ain't that the truth. She's always been good to me...but hasn't ever really understood how deep the pool obsession runs. Now, she's pretty much there...and wants me to have something I'll be happy with. Can't argue with that, huh?? :)

Bumparoo to the top for this fine, fine New Year's Eve. I'm in the house...watching TV and cue shopping. Having the time of my life...and want to find a good cue.

All PMs responded to...and awaiting info/specs/pics on some.

She does, sir....but they're both in their EARLY teens. Not so much wanting to get involved with that fix-up!!!

I will, though, pass on the rep to her. She deserves it. Hell...she's actually EXCITED to see what kind of cue I pick up!!

Bump to the top for the pics and specs I PM'd about yesterday...and to the top for some more options to look at. I only have a couple more days to go!!!

After some PMs back and forth...below is a list of those I'm interested in that fall IN or OUTSIDE of my usual joint specs. I've owned something from most of these guys before...and really liked them. The only two VERY hard and fast rules I have: 19-19.5 ounces, and a linen or leather wrap. As far as the joint goes...I prefer piloted steel...but some of the ones below I've owned before, and enjoyed quite a bit. Same goes for ivory ferrules. I prefer them, but it's not an absolute.

Mark, if you like clean, milled point work, it's really going to be tough to beat this offering as far as a clean cue goes.

Hiya sir!

Happy New Year to you and yours!!!

I saw that cue. I actually OWNED that cue once. The point work that Skip does is so clean, it's SICK.

I do recall that I did like that cue alot...but the hit was a bit different than what I prefer. Can't really explain why, exactly...but it is nice, for sure. Onthehill is great to work with, too.

Thanks a ton, and all the best for 2009.

Mark
