Mystery Cue

Anyone have any idea who made this cue?

Mystery solved, I have seen a few of these cues over the years. They were made in the Mid-1990's some where in Asia and imported, I have no idea who made them or imported them though.

The quality of the ring design, bumper, and the butt cap material along with the finished used set them far apart from what they were meant to copy, which according to the ring design and the joint would have been a older Joss or a Josswest.

Wow, that is so weird Buddy. Quite some time ago I bought a Plain Jane from EBay with the same logo as that. It was suggested that it might be a Paul Rubino but after contacting him, no such luck.

The shafts I got were so warped that you could shoot around a corner with them. I should have sent it back but it was cheap, why.

I still have mine. I refinished it and replaced the wrap. I posted pics here as well with no luck either.

Thank you

Thanks for the quick response manwon.
Mine is straight and the shaft is in good shape but it needs a new wrap.

I love mine.

They just don't make Asian knock offs like they used to I love this stick. its really quite nice But I do need to get the wrap redone.

Nothing wrong with yours, if it plays good and you like it thats the best part.
Mine is rather plain but well built. I'm in the process of removing the ring work from the crap shaft and making a new one.
Phenolic collar on mine.

Do ya have a web site with some photos of your work? I have a few others I need work done on.

Craig does nice conversions and all around great work.
No worries with leaving your cue with him.

As a side note, not that I actually thought it might be a Rubino. But possibly it could be one of his early cues.
Dreams don't cost anything, right. When I couldn't identify the maker, I sanded off the logo.
Your butt cap will be all the better without it. Craig can do that for you while its there.

The wrap on mine was pretty much toast. The wood in both of our cues appear to be the same.
I did mine in dark brown and it looks nice. If you want the old school look, white with green specs would look ok on yours as well.
But really, what cue doesn't look great with white/green specs?

I don't have a website, I do own a pool room and I have a small Machine Shop in the back of my room where I do cue repairs and build cues along with conversion cues for my customers.

I have also posted some of my work here on the forum, and I have done some repair work for forum members. Normally I do not advertise for any repair work here on the forum, I was just trying to help out. However, I can understand your concern so take some time and think about it I can do almost any repair work you may need done on your cues to professional standards or if you have something I am not familar with or have not done before I will not except the work.

Take care and have a great night.

Arnie's PC must be down.

My PC is not down - but if it goes down I have another one. :)

I'm not the one who wrote this rule:

In addition:

Pricing for materials and work should be discussed in private or started as a thread in the " Wanted / Sale " area.

This is not a sales forum.

I wish everyone would abide by it - all the time.

Have a great week-end.

Thanks Arny, I must must have gotten caught up in the moment, I will try to remeber that next time.;):)

Take care

Asian import as already stated.

Branded Name: Penray, as identified by Cue Maker Brian Prulhiere, I can't take credit.

Personally I eventually want a nice example of one of these.
