Mystery wood...AZB wood detectives needed!

When I saw the pic of the Brazilian, I went downstairs to the man cave and looked at the 5 - 24" pieces that I have. I bought it as rosewood but didn't know it was from Brazil. If thats not what I have then I don't know what it is. Same color and grain. Maybe theres other rosewood that has similarities.

Some dark granadillos look like BR's.

I didn't order a new boat, I don't care for water much.
I'll take a pic and see what you guys see. I really didn't suspect it was rare but still, it has nice figure to it.

Grain looks like Some type of Mahogany/Sapele (my martin guitar has this wood for back and sides and it looks very simular in color and grain) ... the grain isnt heavy enuff to be rosewood and the color is just like mahogany IMO...im 90 percent sure its not rosewood of any kind.

I'm 1000% sure it's not rosewood and I've sawn it and turned it! For the fun of it, I'll probaly send a sample out for analysis and report back what I've learned.

Let me say this, though. I'm still on the hunt for squares of Amazon Rosewood, (dalbergia spruceana) with good density, tone, and predominantly straight grain orientation.

And, no, my humble Brazilian RW stash is not for sale. The dollars don't matter much at all in some things.

Never asked if it was for sale........I just said it looked like it may be taking up too much room in your very large pile you have humbly stashed..:winknudge:
