Name a billiard game where an amateur has a chance against a pro

3 Ball with a handful of players kinda evens the field. That said..

There used to be a guy in the local pool hall that always had some sort of wacky tournament:

- One tourney, sharking was not only allowed, but encouraged. Guys would be waving their arms in front of their opponent (no touching or being in anyone's personal space).

- A few tournaments he'd bring out the wacky cue ball and/or 8 ball (and you didn't know which table it was on until you played).

- One tournament was a race to 4, and before each match started (everyone's matches every round started at the same time) he would draw a number out of a hat between 1 and 4. Whichever number he drew for your table, both players for that game only had to play with the other hand.

- Survivor type tournament: The last two players to finish their game were up for elimination, and the vote was determined by the rest of the field (this was when the C players would play a little slower against the A players)

- Ball In Hand tourney: Every time a player missed a shot, his opponent would get ball in hand

I think a twist on this one would be that every time the A player misses or (even) plays a safety, the incoming (C) player gets ball in hand. It forces the A player to get out, and gives the C player a realistic chance at closing a set on the A player.

Keno. Played with a Keno board on the table.

Ya beat me to it lol! This game is awesome, I think I like it better than pool lol

Btw, I made a post about keno a couple years ago wondering where I could find a board - any new info?

I remember playing this game in my local pool room many years back, and happened to see one laying under a table at a pool room in Raleigh, NC just this week. It was the first one I've seen in a while.

I have no idea where to get one, but I would think someone out there is still making them.

If your going to play keno make sure to sneak a couple paper towels or playing cards under the board, way more fun.

Banks

I've seen guys lose getting the 7,8, playing nine ball beat the same player playing banks. At the very top level bank players like Brumback, Daulton and others would probably never lose to an amateur, but many would !!

No chance in any reality I'm losing(more correctly a huge favorite) to any C player playing banks, 3 cushion or any other CUE game EVER ! Bring somebody and we can get it done

only a fool thinks that a c player can devise a game where the abetter player wont win every time, unless you handicap the a player somehow.

like he plays one handed jacked up. or no tip on his cue or no chalk ever on the tip. you still will lose unless you make the spot right. other things like he cant draw his ball back or its a scratch.
doing these things may bring him down to a c player level and still make it fun for him and you as he now is playing basically even.

Every ball must be made in one of the the side pockets, you get one shot and then it is the next guys shot, whether you make a ball or not.
Balls made in corner pockets are spotted on the bottom rail in the center.
At the end of the game, after all the balls have been made, you have 15 cards with numbers 1 thru 15 on them, shuffle them up then you get 1 card for each ball you made.
If one of the cards you pick is the number of a ball you made , you get paid whatever amount you are playing for from every other player.
You do not have to shoot the balls in any order,
just pocket them in the side and put them in your tray.
Slept balls are dead.
Slop counts!
Any game you play where the pro keeps shooting, you have no chance.
I doubt any pro or nit would consider playing this game, so all the people who like to gamble and just want a chance, here you go!
There are a couple of ways to cheat even at this , marking the cards is one , so have someone shuffle the cards and give the appropriate number to each player in the rotation they shot.
Draw a card before each game to determine shooting rotation, low to high, that will help discourage partnerships.
Never underestimate how larcenous some people are, we had a golf game in town that ran for 50 years , 2 slicks decided to take it off by playing as partners, the game was 3 dollars, and a quarter for hickies.
If the game is too slow for you, bet more!

3 of them

A short race to 3 with winner breaks comes to mind.. There are many shooters that are not ranked as pros, yet they are very good shooters and are capable of running 3 racks of 9 Ball. Especially on the popular bar box table.

I have done 3 a few times and ran 4 once, on my 9' table. I have a couple of buddies who are better then me and they are not the best armatures in the world.

So all it would take is for a "ranked pro" to be a little off and a really good armature to be on their game and we would have an upset!

But, a long race on a 9' table would be a tough road for all but the top of the amateur group on a lucky day. Pro players are just better in all aspects of the game and usually make 9 Ball look easy.

The question is about a C player beating an A player. None of what you said applies
