Name the strangest action you've seen.

In 2000 I think it was a foot race across the JOB Billiards parking lot and back, I want to say it was Raphael Martinez and Marcue Chamaat running for $500 or so. Raphael was a such a stoic person usually so watching him huff and puff running was a sight to see, then on the way back he lost his balance and ate it which made it all the more memorable.

That was in 98-99.I was there watching it and remember him falling. I moved to florida in 2000 and that was before I left. I remember him tearing the knees of his pants when he fell.

I was in the practice room at the BC Open 9 Ball Tournament back in 86 or 87. There was some guy there offering this bet: he could break and run out without the cue ball ever hitting a rail. The 9 on the break or early combos did not count. He wanted 100 to 1 odds.

I know proposition bets are always losers, but I do not believe running a rack without touching a rail is possible. Besides that, betting 1k to win 10 bucks doesn't seem right either.

Ah good call, it was my first road trip and had never seen anything like it really but learned quickly that betting on physical contests/attributes/talents are very commonplace in the pool room. The goofiest thing we ever bet on was the color of the next gumball out of the machine, it was at Murphy's Brass Rail which had this really big gumball machine so we all put in $20 with the winner taking the $120 pot. Corey Deuel ended up winning the bet and the event if I remember correctly, that was the event Fabio Patroni brought a very nice looking female companion with him and was an effective distraction to anyone who played him.

Impossible. A 9ball table is too spread out and too many long shots to not let the 9 hit any rail. There's also bound to be a few balls either tied up or sitting on the rail. Thing is, the guy can talk it up all he wants and chances are no one has enough money to be worth it to them - maybe win a buck and thank him for the free soda, and no skin off his nose. It would have been funny if someone put up 10k, though.

A foot race has always been my get out of jail free card.

In most circumstances, everybody assumes that someone of my size (6 foot 5 and 295lbs) is uncoordinated and slow. So there were numerous times that I would find myself down in action, and I would offer double or nothing in a foot race.

The only restrictions were, you cannot cross paths (blocking), or touch the other person in anyway (including bystanders).

I would always step it off, and the race was between 50 and 60 yards.

I have not clocked it in a long, LONG time, but in college, I ran a 4.6 second 40 yard dash, and since I am now older and fatter, my guess is I would probably run a flat 5.0. This is why I run 50-60 yards instead of 40. It allows me a few extra steps to get up to speed, as being fat makes getting of the line hard LOL.

I tried 100 yards a couple times, but end up slowing down... again because I am fat LOL.

overall I am probably 13ish (plus or minus a couple) to 2 on the footrace bet.

I grew up on a farm so I've seen some pretty strange action. Goat on chicken. Chicken on goat. Couple of chickens doing a goat, couple of pigs watching.

Had a local hack bet me $500 race to 7 nine ball even..we'll sort of... The only stipulations were that 1. I couldn't wear a ponytail. I had long hair back then and without the pony tail my hair would just about drag on th table. And 2. FOR THE KICKER, I had to were all my clothes BACKWARDS!.. Shoes, shirt, pants... I won but it was the the toughest action of my life. Lol

how did you wear your shoes backwards?
