Picked up an interesting specimen the other day and just putting this out there to see if anyone has any ideas as to the species. The bark was removed when I found the piece. Thinking with a little stabilization this could make some interesting pieces for future cues.

Let me know what you think.

At first I thought I found Yoda's cane, be about the right height. Lol.

I have no idea what kind of wood it is, but it looks like a good caveman club.

The wood is completely dry, not real heavy, little more density then pine I would say, some burl and a lot of twisting.

On this picture you can see where some of the bark is still on the outside, so I would not think it is a vine. Definetly wood of some form.

No odor to speak of, not thinking it to be Cedar. Definetly not Peanut Butter Joey. I will try to do some research on the whole wine stalk, see what I find.

Thanks for the help so far, the search continues.

Where did you get it? Looks like a local bush that would grow on the cliff face next to the shoreline, or at a high altitude above tree line.

Believe it or not, I found this in one of the Rubbish trucks I was working on, someone decided to just throw it away, I found some pictures online from shutterstock, but no where is the type of wood listed. Says driftwood, this pieceI have does not look to have seen the ocean, as it is not bleached out like most of the driftwood I find. I'll keep searching for what this is.

Think I will take some time and sand some of the end grain and post up a picture here to see if it might be more recognizable. I'll be sure to wear my respirator, as I have no idea if it's deadly or not.
