You mean I don't play textbook 8 ball??? I thought my 8 ball game was like Hohmann's straight pool game, you know???

P.S. the real key is to play more aggressively and try even harder to run out, I swear it works...eventually...

1. Not working the system / analyzing / visualizing. Guilty to often of trying to fall into the just let happen Zen thing when playing. Zen attitude is good for the execution phase but not for the planning phase, at least in my game.

2. Trying to make the ball go in the pocket. I execute the best when I focus on my target which is the first physical point the cue ball will hit.

3. Touch much AZ - Not enough table time

1. I drop my elbow before I contact the cue ball.

2. I stand up on the shot before I finish my stroke.

3. I drink way too much in the long run.

1. Not staying focused on the OB during stroke.
2. Not thinking 3 balls a head (or more in 8-ball)
3. Not coming up out of a shot when distracted or when the shot just doesn't look right.

I in no way meant to impugn your 8-ball strategy. "Never give up; never surrender!" is a perfectly effective way to feel about your improbable runout in progress.

Now maybe if I draw 5 rails off the 2, I can break up the 12-14-5 cluster and fall on the 5 with natural 6-rail position for a backwards cut on the 8...

Just giving you a hard time, man.

1. Gripping my cue too tightly on some shots.

2. Raising up too quickly when I get in a hurry because I have an easy lay out.

3. Not using a pre-shot routine on every shot.

1. thinking in the shooting position

2. but... thinking that I'll make the shot anyways... it's not that difficult... I'll make it

3. and then... missing the shot :(

1) allowing my team mates to twist my rubber arm into going outside for um... herbal suppliments prior to playing a match
2) not doing my preshot routine (see 1)
3) not lining up right (see 2)
going to the parking lot to " check the air pressure in ones tires " is not that bad of a thing ......as long as you dont drink too much on top of that ...and / or eat the food from the bar you are in ......

I would make this suggestion to pool players ....when you play , instead of trying to do all these things , and thinking about them .......simply allow your self to play pool ........

Mine would be:
1. Dropping my shoulder.
2. Letting my mind drift off once in a while.
3. Swinging for the fences. I like to play more aggressive than most.

The first step to being able to fix your bad habits is the ability to identify them...

1. Scratching or otherwise fouling, leaving my opponent with ball in hand when he has one or no balls left on the table, then the 8 ball. Ugh!

2. Not getting comfortable before shooting... most often happens when someone at the table next to me is not paying attention and continuously gets in the way, which causes me to stay nervous and almost expect interference. So, I just make the shot and hope.

3. Some days, it seems like my hand is mad about something and tends to "punch" most of my shots.

4. I have one bad habit I don't want to fix. If I miss a shot, my opponent often has little or no chance to make their shot and I come by that ability naturally. I don't plan to miss and make the ball land in that exact spot, but it happens and I win more games with that uncanny ability. The only thing I might want to change about this is NOT missing the shot, in the first place. :)

I almost forgot... The overconfidence issue. Easy shot. No problem. Set up for next shot. Okay. Now, shoot! How could I have missed that!!???

1) Loosing focus
2) Not playing on MY level, playing to their level.
3) I'm either extremely defensive or extremely offensive, I rarely play a balanced game.

1. I Have a terrible Break.
2. Sucking in straight balls
3. Putting the chalk in the opposite side that after I finished up a game, the table would be so dirty.
