National B Tournament a Reality?

Behind the scenes very dedicated people have been dotting the i's and crossing the t's to bring what maybe a turning point in promoting 3C in this country. Having a high-profile event for B players in a wonderful resort facility would be fantastic!

People will need to step up monetarily, volunteering, sponsoring, donating, entering...etc. If we all do our part this is scheduled in the Fall of 2013.

One last thing...the promoter is not making one penny. He is doing it for the love of the game.

I wish him the best!

Congrats!

Thanks to the person or persons who came across with this idea.
Just have to wonder if because of low turnout, if A players will be allowed.
Seems to follow course in many tourneys.
Don't get me wrong on this, it' great seeing A players shoot, but to promote the game, shouldn't there be a limit?
Most 3 cushion players really come in at C level and if interested, become B's.
When that player gets to a tourney and sees A players, it kind of takes the wind out of their sail.
Hats off to the idea, just hope it takes.
More 3Cushion players, the better.

Looks like the purse will be high enough to attract enough players, if in fact this get pulled off. This isn't going to be your typical pool hall tournament run on a shoestring.

If "A" players were allowed in this thing it would go against the concept and kill the future of such tournaments. So it aint gonna happen IMO. Too much work involved to let it go down the drain.

The problem is raising sufficient funds to pull it off. For a tournament of this caliber it takes a fair chunk of up front money and has to be raised months in advance.
Like RIGHT NOW! There's several serious people who have committed to this. Now is the time for the rest of us to take a look at how serious we are about bringing life back to this game.

I'm just curious and skeptical as to how and who the "B" ranking will be evaluated for the entrants. IMHO the USBA ranking system is flawed, if the system remains using a player's averages throughout the year. In 90% of USBA tournaments the averages for the entire tournament are NOT kept.

In the preliminary rounds of a "USBA Open Tour" event, the "B" player’s averages may be higher than when some of them reach the "finals" with much stronger players. I feel it will be difficult to qualify players from this type of event using the USBA format; it is NOT a TRUE reflection of how "B" players play throughout the year against their peers! Unless the director ONLY allows "B" players that have played EXCLUSIVELY in "B" tournaments!

I surely hope Gary can get this event off the ground, I've proposed this type of tournament to several persons in authority over the past year, with NOT much response.

Good luck Gary;
