Hello all

I’m new to the group here

I need a new tip for my trusty old Cue….. my budget is $20 before installation

Seems like the “Big 3” are Kumui, Moori (IV) and Tiger (Everest or sniper)

Looks like the Kumui is $25 msrp ($15 online)
Moori…………………….. $20 msrp (10.95 online)
Tiger about the same (+$1 for the sniper)

Which would you guys recommend?
Standard play cue (not break/jump)
Beginner/avg player
Medium tip preferred

Any advice would be much appreciated
Thanks
John

Kamui. No question.
Moori has turned to crap.
I wouldn't consider Tiger in the top 3 of tips. My opinion.

Ki-Tech Medium

I've had both Tiger sniper and Kamui. My playing cue has a Kamui black medium...but you might prefer soft, because the black medium is "pretty hard", in my opinion.

KAMUI CLEAR.....Black.......soft hardness........whatever hardness you're now using, go down one with Kamui Clear......tried them all....best darn tip since Moori original bown that hasn't been around for years.

Contact Tom.....Shooter08......Wisconsin Billiard Supply....he's sold me all the Kamui Tips for my cues for the past couple of years.

I've had both Tiger (came installed on my 314-2) and Kamui. I thought Kamui was pretty good but I have also heard they made some change not too long ago and may not be quite the same as they were before.

I have heard good things about Black Heart tips and that will probably be the next one I try out.

The best tip is an Ultraskin.

of the 3 you mention id go with a kamui black

I agree the Kumui medium plays like a harder tip and holds it shape and has decent feedback. Everest held its shape but felt pretty dead.

If you have a trusty old cue, then you should use the trusty old kind of tip that you have now. Not one of the tips that have been recommended will play like what I assume is installed on your cue presently.

I like Kamuis too, but I hear a lot of good things about ultraskins (and they are about half the price of Kamuis) if you wanted to go a less expensive route. I'm not rich by any means, but I just don't feel like $20 for a tip you prefer is that ridiculous considering how long they last. I mean, if a tip only lasts you 4 months that's still only $1-$2 a month over choosing a less expensive tip and, as my Grandpa always used to say, "I would pay $2 to watch a monkey f***."

I've got shafts with all 3 tips you mentioned and prefer the Everest. Second would be the Moori. Just my opinion of course.

Welcome to the forum. The place where there's an answer to every question, and a question about every answer.
Don't forget to put your name in the hat for next week's drawing. First prize is a date with my Sister's daughter, Rowena. This picture is from her high school prom where some of the guys slapped her silly just before they...never mind, it isn't important.

Oh, by-the-way, buy an UltraSkin tip from Tom Hay. He's a member here and makes the best tips going. Just do a search for Tom Hay. :)

We aren't the Big 3 but we are winning our battles. and I will put ur Medium up against any mentioned...... G2 is currently the best testing layered I have had my hands on but they are not Big 3 either...
